I thought I'd share this in case it helps other 'rookies' like me. Dinner in a restaurant as a treat tonight. I perused the menu on line to work out carbs in advance. Did a BG test at the table. (I am a diabetic not a weirdo - to people staring). Felt proud of myself for that. So far so good. Waited for the starter to arrive then injected insulin. Only problem was there was an hour and a half gap between the starter and the main course. Understandable, in retrospect because we're only just out of lockdown, staff pressures etc. However, instead of having a nice relaxing time waiting for the main course I had to retest and take some dextrose to avoid a hypo. Husband trying to distract me with making polite conversation which was a little weird. Ended up with a BG a little higher than hoped due to extra dextrose. In the future I'm going to inject when I see the main course. Ho hum. I avoided falling off my chair so all good and lesson learnt
