Diabetes UK Tracker App (iTunes)

I wouldn't give it quite that many. It seems to only like entering the weight in St/lbs which is a pain for us metric types.

But more importantly it lacks an export/backup/restore function. Given the tendency to brick a iPhone/iTouch on software updates I would consider that a little vital.

If I do exercise I have to add that as a note, but that's ok. A BMI calculator when entering weight would be useful too!

Ha! Funnily enough I did knock another half a point off for the fixed (and slighty strange) units! It had already lost a whole point for the lack of export.

There were quite a few niggles, most of which made it into the review here: http://www.everydayupsanddowns.co.uk/2011/09/d-tracker-review-diabetes-uk-iphone-app.html

Thanks, I'm going to try it too! I have an Accuchek Expert, which does all the calcs but nowhere to say what the carbs were, which is sometimes necessary to explain the results obtained!

You know that you can see the carbs on the Expert though? Just go 'my data' 'view data' then click the centre button on any line for the full data set.

Morning everyone, thanks for all the comments so far. Some really interesting points that I'll feed back to the person managing the app project.

I'll have a chat with her about your comments later today and pop back with some feedback from our end - and what we can do around the couple of issues mentioned. I believe we've got an early update to the app planned to take into account any early issues raised by users, which is pretty common planning in app production, so I've been told!

If anyone else has any comments, do let me know - eager to hear them all.

Thanks all!

The app has a button to disconnect from social networks if you have used the sharing feature - but I've not figured out how to convince the app to share a measurement with facebook/etc.

Has anyone managed to do this?

I made a test post to Twitter. As far as I can see you can only share notes or graphs, rather than individual BG records.

Which is a shame really.

Oh and Joe - one more thing... I'm not exactly 100% sure of the sequence of events, but I did see 2 distinct bugs in evidence.

One was a repeated entry in 'day' list view (either one from another day or one from later in the same day). This seemed to be connnected with editing existing records, possibly the addition or deletion of notes?

The other was a change to a whole day's BG values by a minute and seemingly random decimal place. I'm pretty sure this was triggered by the adding of a 'test' value when I was looking at the graphing of data. When the test value was deleted another entry on the same day that had previously been stored as, say, 5.4 became something like 5.3888888445677 (though still showed rounded to 5.4 in the list view and was only seen to have changed when that record was edited).

Not sure if I can recreate the errors, so that may not be much help!

Hi think it's the one I mentioned the app itself doesn't link to your computer but you can send the full log you keep via email & open it in Numbers (Mac) or excel if you use csv format or the simple table works well just to print directly from the email.

This link should take you to the free version I use this as it's got enough detail for us http://itunes.apple.com/gb/app/easy-diabetes/id388621370?mt=8

You know that you can see the carbs on the Expert though? Just go 'my data' 'view data' then click the centre button on any line for the full data set.

Sorry, I was not clear there, I meant what the carbs consisted of eg fish & chips as opposed to curry & rice, as the results can be dramatically different and my memory of what I ate at what time is so appalling! I'm just reading your review which is wonderfully comprehensive, (thanks!) but have to say that while I have now got the app I don't think I will be using it alongside my meter

Thanks for sharing!

I am really stupid! Opened the app to fill in details and there are columns to record more things than I thought. Carbs/insulin/keytones etc
