The literature I was given by the diabetic nurse States for my medication I need to carry s diabetic card and wear a diabetic bracelet. Any idea where I can get these from? Do boots sell them?

I know someone who got a warfarin alert bracelet online-nice and age appropriate I will ask her today

Medical alert tags, Amazon,eBay. I googled warfarin alert bracelets and loads of things came up.good luck in your search

The DN at my GP practice gave me a diabetic card saying I take insulin ' so maybe ask there.
Your local pharmacy may be able to help with a bracelet and perhaps a card
I was thinking of a Medic alert bracelet for myself but can't decide whether to use them or not ,I do take quite a few meds.
Temporarily you could do what I have done, make notes of your details , I've used my name and NHS number as I don't like having my address in my purse or bags. and listed my medical conditions, medications and doses. then put one in your purse and put others where you think they would be found ie other handbags.

I haven't worn a bracelet since the ID bracelet I had in the 1970s, with my name on the front and my girlfriend's on the inside (she bought it for me 😉) - remember those? 🙂

I do have a card in my wallet, although I don't always have my wallet with me. I'm a bad diabetic! 😱

You might like to look at : http://www.universalmedicalid.co.uk/
apart from a range of alert goods, if you buy one you get access to an on-line registry where you can put your medical details (free for life).
The whole point of this is to aid medical personnel (e.g paramedics) in emergency, the medical details are obtainable via a phone number/web access.
As you are not on insulin I wouldn't panic about it.

Don't forget put 'ICE' details on your phone.

I got mine from www.diabetes.co.uk it's a bracelet with an I.D. number on it, they send you the bracelet, then you register it and add all your med details, illnesses and emergency contacts etc. It was £9.99 for 12 months, but the service is 24/7 and is accessible by telephone number on the bracelet. It seemed to have good reviews.

I had one of those too - a silver one! Memories 🙂

I don't know about the card but if you just google "ice bands" or "medical bracelets" or something like that there are loads of websites, you can get a bracelet made up with anything you want engraved on it. We've just had one done for our daughter, it shows her name, type 1 diabetes on insulin pump, and my mobile number as the emergency contact. Cost £20 and no annual fees to register the details.

Thanks for this I'm going to take a look

Just want to point out that diabetes.co.uk are not related in any way to the charity Diabetes UK. Have to point this out as I often receive emails from people confusing the two, which I feel is particularly unfair if the email is a complaint! (I'm not suggesting there is anything wrong with the service they offer, I wouldn't know).

I have a bracelet which I got from the States which has a tiny usb and card with everything on it and I keep a card written in English (rather than in medicalese) in my wallet. So if I keel over in Waitrose (other supermarkets are available:D) they can read the card and if I have experts they can understand the jargon and there's everything they could possibly want to know about me... apart from my shoe size!😱

I remember someone once saying that the paramedics etc. aren't allowed to use the USBs as they could contain viruses (of the computer kind!) that might infect NHS systems :( Not sure if it is an urban myth though.

I think it is true, but in extremis I'm sure the IT dept would have a pc they could use! As you can imagine all my information forms a small book😱

They will definitely find a bracelet since they'll try and take your pulse. However I always wear a bracelet and a watch on my other wrist and don't wish to wear such things, since they are neither gold, nor dainty.

They are not allowed to rummage in bags etc - for the simple reason they'd get accused of eg 'nicking my Rolex which was in my handbag' or 'the £3,000 cash rolled up at the bottom of my rucksack' etc - and used to be quite frequently - so they had to stop it. So thanks to scammers - we've all but lost an extremely useful service. I believe if more than one policeman is present - then they can, as long as the other one and someone independent witnesses the search.
