Only in the Slush Pile so far, but I think it should be in the main Awards.

This story just goes to show: never ignore warning signs with D. I almost lost a toe (if not a foot) because I didn't do anything about an excruciating pain in the toe; when I finally presented myself at the Emergency Care Clinic at Guy's, almost before I knew it I was being whisked off in an ambulance to A&E at St. Thomas', where I was in hospital for about a week whilst the ulcer was being treated. This was in February 2014.
