Just had a letter after my retinopathy scan a couple of weeks ago and my first back at annual screening after being discharged from the eye hospital last year. Unfortunately, it's one of those 'you have moderate diabetic disease, a referral has been made to your local eye unit' :(

I'm hoping that they've just spotted the same thing that sent me to the eye hospital originally, which was small changes but near to the macula. They discharged me after a couple of years because nothing actually changed in that time. I never needed any treatment whilst I was there. If things have got worse then I'm at a bit of a loss as my HbA1c and BP have been excellent so can't really be improved. Guess I'm just unlucky in where the changes have occurred.

Sorry to hear that Alan

Best to get it checked out though I guess.

Not nice you got the new but you are getting it checked. It is likely to be the problem you had before but it is nice to have that reassurance

Sorry to hear about the letter, Northerner.

Sadly, even excellent BP and HbA1c is not 100% guarantee of no eye / retina problems. But early diagnosis means early treatment, before situation gets worse and affects your sight.

I hope it is just the same old damage and not something new. As the others have said, best to get it checked out to be sure.

Sorry to hear about this. Let's hope it is no worse than before and you will be discharged without the need for further treatment.

Sorry to hear about this Alan, at least it's going to be checked and fingers crossed you'll not need any more treatment. X

Sorry to hear this and hope they've just spotted what you already know about.

Sorry to hear about this Alan. I really hope that they've just picked up on the existing problem and nothing is any worse. Lots of hugs

Oh Alan, I do feel for you as I was scared that might happen with me. My recent one was the first back on routine screening. I bet you it's the same thing though and the eye clinic will say it's all ok. Not nice though. Poor you.

Like everyone else has said, fingers crossed it's just what you already know about. It is frustrating when you can't control things any better than you are doing. Chin up 🙂

Thanks everyone 🙂 It's a right pain getting to the eye hospital for me as it's right the other side of town, two buses and a 30 minute walk each way. Still, hopefully I will have a bit of a spring in my step on the way back! 🙄

Sorry to hear this but hope they'll check them over and you won't need any treatment done to them🙂

Just saw this - I can only second what the others said - hopefully this is just the eye team being very vigilant & picking up on the old findings. Will be thinking of you! Xx

Sorry to hear that northie

Hope it's what you already know about
