He got up this morning and could hardly walk his left leg, 'dead'. He was dragging his foot behind hind.

With a struggle, got him in the car took him to the surgery, who then ambulanced him to A & E, and after 4 hours said he had to go for a chest xray and up to the stroke ward.

I don't think it is a full blown stroke, more like a TIA, or at least that's what I hope.

Need to go and pack his personals and take them up to the hospital later. At least our hospital is only 10 minutes away

I'll keep you posted

Hi Hazel,
wishing you and your Dad well.
Hope he is home soon.

Hazel my thoughts are with you. Hope your dad has a speedy recovery x

Hazel, I'm very sorry to hear about your Dad :( I hope that it turns out to be only minor ( if such a thing can be described as minor) and that he's out and back home soon. 🙂

Hi Hazel,

Sorry to hear your dad is in hospital - I hope they get to the bottom of what it is and he makes a quick recovery and comes home soon.🙂Bev

Hello Hazel, really sorry about your dad, it's a shock to the system for both him and yourself. One little tiny bit of advice from someone who's been there is to push for an MRI scan whilst he is still in hospital if possible. Once you leave hospital things seem to take ages. I was told that a TIA almost always resolves within 24 hours (ie the symptoms go completely in that time) whereas a stroke will take longer to resolve. That's what made me fairly convinced that my diagnosis of TIA was incorrect. Either way, I wish you and your dad all the best and don't despair, even a stroke can have a good recovery. xx

Hi Hazel, i just wanted to wish your dad well. I hope he has a very speedy recovery.

Hope your dad is feeling better soon. Take care.

my sincere thanks for your kind wishes for my Dad

Karen, tonight they spoke of a CT scan and a brain scan tomorrow - are these less than an MRI

Also a full 'physo assessment tomorrow too

So we will see

Wishing your dad a speedy recovery and good luck for tomorrow Hazel x

Hazel wishing your dad all the best and a speedy recovery xxx

I hope your dad is better soon. Something similar happened to a friend and it turned out to be a trapped nerve, which released with the aid of physiotherapy.

Hope your dad's ok and that the tests have shown not too much damage.

Hazel I hope your dad has a speedy recovery, he's in the best place. Take care and best wishes to you and your dad Sheena

Have pm'd you about the 2 scans. They usually do a CT first as it's quick and probably cheaper and it may show up the problem if there is one. If it comes back clear though, do insist on an MRI which will pick up far more. Sending best wishes and hope your dad is feeling better today.xx
