Hi Steff,
Cut the ends off and slice it. It is the same family as marrow and a bit tasteless on it's own. Will be fine in the meal you are doing.

Thanks for quick reply Cherry, Im hoping to disguise it within the white sauce cause green=danger in this house lol.

I grew a few courgettes last year, I prefer them sliced with some butter........

good luck when serving them to the men of the house............:D

We also grow lots, so for weeks each summer we rarely have a meal without courgettes! Best way to cook we've found is to grill or dry fry (no fat) in a frying pan, so they go a bit charred. Any fat during coooking makes them go soggy.

And if green = danger, then you can get yellow skinned courgettes or remove peel before cooking.

Thanks ever so much Copepod I will do both those things.(peel/dry fry)

I also love em raw. They are a tad soggy and insipid just 'stewed'.

You can also convert them to 'Nil carb' tagliatelli!

With acknowledgement to Terry G, joint Admin on 'other' DSF -

Peeled courgette.
Cut into tagliatelle-width blocks.
Slice these into long thin strips.
Bit of a pat dry, then into sunflower oil and butter mix in wok, salt, pepper. Stir around over medium heat for a couple of minutes.
Taste for readiness.

Done.

Yay the food was a sucsess and we all had seconds.

Yummy sliced lengthways in half, drizzled with olive oil, teeny bit of salt, lots of pepper and grilled until starting to brown 🙂
Or baked with onions and a tin of tomatoes and grated cheese on top!

I make Ratatouille with mine ......very yummy. I also like them in a curry🙂
