Your title for this post is for a Freestyle Libre ? & it is for a different product is it not ?

'Competition for' as in, another company is going into competition against the Libre to produce a similar product.

Did Hobie perhaps think it was a competition to win a Freestyle Libre? - I have to say - I wondered that myself, as I opened the thread! However - it immediately became apparent it wasn't that at all.

I can see how the title could be read as "competition to win Freestyle Libre", rather than the intended meaning "competitor for Freestyle Libre". Anyway , competion between brands will probably reduce the price, so that's good.
Edited - to say I was typing at same time as @trophywench and said much the same.

The title of the post is for a Freesyle Libre. NOT a Sugarbeat. 😉 Just shows how posts can be misunderstood 😱. Tech 🙂

When I clicked on the thread I thought it was for a competition to win (say a years supply) of the Libre too 🙄

We must be daft Lucy :D I thought exactly the same but that is how it reads. I was one of the first in the country to have a Libre & have never heard of the SugarBeat. The title of the post should have read "New SugarBeat" something ? 😉

It is not even on the market yet.

Well Hobie - it is completely obvious that it is not a competition to win a Libre, as soon as you read the post that Northerner started the thread with. However I can only think you neither read the post nor clicked on the link, before suddenly saying the SugarBeat isn't a Libre.

Everyone else understood that THEY had made a mistake in interpretation pretty damn quick - but you still think it's Alan's fault not yours!

SugarBeat looks interesting, and might be better for my allergies than a Libre/CGM, if the adhesive is gentler.

My optician told me the other day that they're developing contact lenses which can tell you your blood sugar levels, so that will be a bit of competition too, at least for those people who are able to wear contact lenses (not me! - I'm far too squeamish!).

Yes, the contact lens idea has been around for a few years now - here's what happened:

Just thinking .. some of us remember there was going to be a watch that detected your BG and I think that was sposed to work much the same as portrayed in the SugarBeat advert .. well the watch never materialised. Be interesting to see if this thing does and whether it works!

When they say that the cost is comparable to strips, I wonder if they are comparing it with testing every 5 minutes! That would make it pretty pricey.

Most probably the price of the more expensive strips.

Jodie Foster's daughter in The Panic Room had 'the watch' - I got very excited, but then realized it was fiction...boo hoo.🙄
