Hello all - long time no post.

Is there anyone who has ever had to use a temperature probe for the feet as I am trying to buy one. Apparently I can get a thermometer that you shove just about anywhere else but not on my feet!!

I know it sounds odd but with the Charcot, temperature is the way you tell if its still happening and I'm getting increasingly irritated that the medical staff looking after my feet only use their hands and maintain that they can tell temperature difference of only a couple of degrees. I'm sorry but I think thats rubbish and when I take my foot out of a polystyrene lined, velour sock type thing in a vac-ped boot, obviously its going to be hot!!!

The only digital probe I have seen is being used by the podiatrist at the hospital where I go for my diabetic care however the Charcot is being taken care of at another hospital who do not have a probe. I want my own - any suggestions

Thanks
SusieB

Hi Susie, nice to hear from you again 🙂 I'm sorry but you've got me stumped. My podiatrist uses one too but I only see them once a year, in November. Could you ask yours what they are called (i.e. brand, type, serial no,manufacturer etc.) and that might help you search for a retailer.

Let us know if you have any luck! I hope things are improving for you 🙂

Don't know if will work accurately enough for you but an catering infrared thermometer might do the job (argos have the Silverline 633726 on sale for ?13 at the moment (cat no: 743/0075. accuracy might not be good enough though at +/-2.5 degrees c). Might be worth getting for use in the kitchen if nothing else (is your pizza stone up to temp type thing). Don't know whether a forehead thermometer would do the job either, Lloyds pharmacy do one (doubles up as an in-ear thermometer as well) for ?15 maybe you could pop in your local Lloyds and discuss with the staff?

Thanks very much, they are all possibilities but it is a little irritating that the particular hospital department can't afford one isn't it !!

Thank you very much for looking. Apparently the NHS can't even afford a calendar this year (I saw my plaster tech trying to print one of her PC) so no wonder they won't buy a thermometer !!
