The carbs - on the packaging in the UK as they are the net cabs, without the fibre included.
If you look online and the site is USA based then you need to deduct the fiber - note the spelling, to get the net cabs.
The 'of which sugars' might tell you how fast the carbs might spike you, but it is not really significant.

I'm in the uk, so how many carbs am I allowed in a day as I've just been looking at the of which are sugars and going for stuff that's low in that category

It is best to test your meals as we are all different in how we digest and absorb foods.
I found that beans are to be avoided, as I seem able to digest more of them than I should be able to, and so extract more carbohydrate.
At first I ate no more than 50 gm of carbs a day, but dropped down to under 40 gm to see if that would lower my Hba1c - it didn't.
I'm afraid that it is the total carbs you need to count, starches and sugars, not just sugars.

There is no real recommend daily amount anything under 130 grams a day is consider by most as low carb, but many like @Drummer go ultra low. I would go with the level you feel you can maintain long term as this is a marathon not a sprint.

I think it helps to know what you currently eat in terms of daily carb intake so keep a food diary and work that out and then reduce that for a week or two and then perhaps reduce it again as your body gets used to craving carbs less. Lowering your BG levels too quickly can cause temporary or even permanent damage to fine blood vessels, so slow and steady is the key. Increasing your activity levels with a daily walk will also help if you are able. Many people here on the forum use a BG meter to figure out how many carbs their body can handle but am I not right in thinking you are on insulin, in which case any changes in carb intake need to be slow and cautious so that you can slowly reduce your insulin doses through discussion with your Health Care Professionals to balance your BG and hopefully prevent hypos occuring.

So when I started this 2 weeks ago my BG was over 30 on the meter fasting in a morning was about 25 I'm now at about 12 in a morning now last night I felt really bad the room was spinning but I tested my BG and it was only 18 and Its been about 18 for the last week this is at night before I take my tresiba at night what could have that been today I'm working everything out to see what I intake and see what happens tonight today all in I will be having 267g that's all day?

Also remember if you eat too many carbs you will gain weight. So need to balance carb intake without going need of exercise. The more active you are the more carbs you will need. Not just physical exercise the brain also uses large amount of carbs at times. As a type 1 I can think myself into a hypo🙂

I don't understand all that nutritional info on packets, so I try not to have anything from a packet, much easier. 🙂

Agh that's a lie, I ate a packet of sausages today. Cripes. No more sossies! Full of cereal anyways no doubt.

Not at all - We like the ones from the Coop which are very low carb and also tasty without being peppery.
I look for high cocoa chocolate and look on the back for the lowest carbs, it is well worth looking on the packets - there can be a lot of variation in similar products.
These days I smile at there being 100% meat or fish printed on the front of the packet and 40% carbs printed on the more truthful panel on the back.

I have a local butcher who makes his own - very little rusk
