Just wondering what others daily carb intake was, and how many grams per meal, for breakfast I generally have around 27g, lunch is around 36g and dinner is usually around 26g, I would love to increase this amount but with the problems I'm having at the moment I cant :( x

My baseline is 100g carbs a day, but I may exceed it by up to 20. I don't set out to have that number, it's just what it seems to add up to when I've eaten what I want, and what works with my insulin not to produce too many spikes.

Breakfast varies, if I have eggs, it's zero carbs, otherwise 2 small slices of Burgen toast or a small bowl of granola, mixed seeds and yogurt is about 20-25g.

Lunch is my carbfest meal, probably 50g, it's when I have my fruit.

Evening meal is usually lower, although it's my main meal of the day, because it's protein and veg, and a small portion of carbs, probably around 30g.

Then there's bits and bobs of milk in tea and coffee, bits of choc, etc. throughout the day ( and the occasional piece of cake if I'm out, which means I'll have a bit of a spike. I try not to do that too often, but you have to relax the rules sometimes)

I am on a pump & ADORE to miss meals. When in the 70s I was on fixed injections & had to eat 50g of carbs every meal. I absolutely hated food & my poor parents could only hope I had enough food in me before school. 😱

There's no way I could miss a meal! lol x

If you had to eat when you where very young & knew you had to it was a tremendous thing when I could make the choice to please myself. My best mate is no longer with us & he was diagnosed the same time as me. When England won a big football game. I could easily last 2 or 3 days.

I'm on about 120-160g per day. As an example, yesterday I had:

B - 12g (a slice of Burgen toast)
L - 60g (Sardines on 2 slices Burgen toast, yoghurt, banana
D - 70g (Chili and rice, 4 squares chocolate)

I have the same sort of amounts every day, whatever the food happens to be! 🙂

It looks like you could increase your evening meal carbs, @Kaylz - have a pudding! 🙂

I wish I could! But the fear of something going wrong is too strong at the moment :( was supposed to have an appointment with the DSN this morning but had to cancel it due to another appointment, I hate that I had to cancel it as I feel they are far too important but not easy to tell the job centre that! Lol x

Anywhere between 75 and 130g a day for me, however I am finding that protein is a major factor in my levels as well but I can't face weighing and counting that as well!

Usually between 100-150g a day for me. Tried going lower and I struggle to stick to it.

Mine varies as to what I fancy. I always try to have a few low carb meals a week, but sometimes I have roughly the same as Northerner, I'll have a pudding a couple of times a week when I fancy it. I hope you get some help to encourage you to be less rigid in your approach to eating soon Kaylz xx

Me too! still waiting on a psychologist appointment coming through though :( have an appointment with Paul in 2 weeks but so could have done with keeping the one that was scheduled for this morning :( what kind of pudding options do you tend to go for? if you don't mind me asking xx

Chocolate eclair, choux bun, individual mini cheesecake or trifle 🙂 tomorrow is my twin daughters birthday and I will be having a slice of cake x

Happy birthday to your daughters for tomorrow! 🙂 hope they and you obviously have a great day :D x

K disappointing you had to cancel this morning...but...keeping your Job Centre Appointment is vital too...necessary... particularly as you are unable to find suitable employment at the moment...don't be disappointed...it's over now...all done...now you can concentrate on 'sorting yourself out'...getting your referrals...keep moving forward...go mad...reward yourself with a pudding:D:D:D.

Hi Kaylz,
I must be one of the greedy ones lol, But I have quite a manual job
Breakfast 40 carbs = 12 Rapid that's because of the Dawn thingy and have to wait 45 mins after jabbing
Lunch 45 carbs = 8 rapid and eat straight away
Tea 120 carbs = 16 rapid and eat straight away
sometimes I have more if feeling peckish lol

I would love to eat that amount! but as I say the fear stops me! hoping to get that sorted out, i take 2 units for breakfast and had to eat within 6 minutes! haha, lunch is usually 3 units and a 20 minute wait and tea is usually 2.5 units and a 10 minute wait x

Well I guess this shows we're all a bit different. I tend to have around 150g a day...but like others have said this can vary. I do try and have roughly the same each day, I think this probably goes back to the days, like Hobie, when we had set insulin to match set meal carbs...so a bit of a habit I got into.

B. 30/40g - usually porridge, can't go carb free at breakfast as not keen on cooked food first thing and I love porridge. (Hot in winter, cold in summer, with flaked almonds, seeds or berries as topping) I'll often make with a milk alternative that is carb free to allow for a few more oats.🙂

L. 40g - usually a sandwich or pitta bread, followed by some fruit and dollop of plain yogurt, depending on carbs in bread. But sometimes it might just be a salad and only 10-20g.

D.40/50g - last night for example we had salmon baked with veg, this included new potatoes. Tonight is butter bean and veg stew. I've got out of the habit of having dessert, not sure why, usually full I guess.

I will often have a snack during morning maybe 10/20g depending where I am and what I'm doing.

It's interesting that you quote carbs in exact figures, where we seem to round up or down. You'll get to where you want to be, it takes baby steps and you've been on a huge learning curve and are doing very well remember...certainly jealous of those blood sugars! 🙂 (Apologies for over long message).

Usually about 150 for me as I've found that a reasonable amount of carbs is the only way I can keep my weight stable. I have problems digesting too much fat or protein on a regular basis due to my creon habit. N.B. my Bg levels are normally quite respectable. Took a bit of trial and error and a few libre sensors but I got there.

I need to get there soon as cant afford anymore weight loss! lol x
