Carb confusion

Hi all

I seem to be struggling in a morning at present with breakfast. Rather than blood spikes, I seem to be having quick drops (2- 2.5hours after eating) where I am dropping below 5 and even 4. This is despite eating either 3 scrambled egg and 2 wholegrain toast or 2 (even 3 sometimes Weetabix) and having a couple of coffees.

I am having the carbs as I thought these will help keep the BG up for longer but it doesnt seem to be working- has anybody else had similar issues. It does mainly seem to be in the morning until lunch when it is worse.

Am I right in thinking you are not on insulin and have and possibly have LADA, due to raise antigad (same me by the way but no doctor or endo I have seen recognise LADA as a diagnosis)
Have you tried testing 1 hour after the breakfast? As the higher we go the more we feel the drops. No problem with being in 4-5’s but if you are coming down for 20 your body will certainly feel like there is a problem

Easily digested carbs from grains would make me spike and then crash - there is this concept of slow digestion - but my insides never got the memo about that.
Until you can get a true diagnosis, I suggest a lower carb intake, more protein and fats as that part of your metabolism should be working normally.

Thank you- yes that is right. I am still not clear with the LADA part- the doctor today said that is more like type 2 but I need to see the specialist to get my head around it tbh.

I havent tried that but will do, although I have had to have a lot of tests today- I have dropped into 2 hypos so the doctor has had me testing non stop and have to stop using the glimipride.

I am thinking to do exactly that with the carbs as whilst I thought they would prop my BG for longer it hasnt been working- need to think of some substantial breakfasts without Carbs now as my go to has been weetabix or wholemeal toast and eggs!

I have been told it and seen it written down so many times, and even seen some people who claim it worked for them - but I was encouraged to eat carbs for 45 years, despite my protestations, and it simply doesn't work for me, I digest carbs very well, very fast - faster than I can cope with them.
This is not unusual at all - I just wish it was not taken as gospel truth.
My usual breakfast is meat and stir fry with mushrooms, then a coffee with cream. In hot weather it might change to fish and salad, but the basic concept is the same. I an, though, a very ordinary type 2, nothing at all interesting or exciting.
