@Lucyr The initial post was about solo camping and hillwalking possibly in a couple of weeks and that was what I was responding to. I think that is very different to going for a walk in your local park or village or a National Trust property or whatever and building up steadily so that you understand how your medication impacts your levels and perhaps develop some competence at recognising and dealing with hypos.
@Petra V I am definitely not saying don't walk solo at all, just build up to it and get these episodes of feeling unwell checked out and identified and perhaps a means of testing for ketones like Ketostix since your HbA1c was so high at diagnosis.
If you don't have a Constant Glucose Monitor (CGM) like Freestyle Libre 2 Plus it might be helpful to apply for their free 15 day trial to use when you start walking further afield, but it is always important to have back up finger prick kit to double check it when appropriate and to understand it's limitations and quirks which are documented in the link below....

Moderator Note: This helpful reply was copied from another thread as it details some of the commonly experienced limitations of continuous glucose sensors.
If these are very short periods of lows and occur overnight, they are more likely to be compression lows - when pressure is applied to a sensor, it will report a false low. The reason I say this is more likely to happen at...My blood sugar has been in perfect range for days now, but although I haven't changed anything, I'm starting to get very short periods of hypos while I sleep and this morning I had a hypo alarm.
