Relationship to Diabetes
Type 1
Hi my name is Karen and I've had type 1 diabetes for 37 years. Didn't always looked after myself as a teen but turned it around in later years. However I am now suffering the effects of my diabetes. I have severe autonomic neuropathy and cardiovascular autonomic neuropathy so my organs are failing to work, some have already packed up completely. Life is pretty hard when you have automatic neuropathy and my life expectancy is really not good. Also I have peripheral neuropathy and two years ago lost my leg, although that was down to medical negligence. I'm now suing two hospitals and trying to make then take diabetic foot care more seriously. I've really struggled in the last six years and have had no support at all. I have PTSD from losing my leg the way I did and as I don't have energy to go out I'm stuck in the house now. I really hope I can find some support or advice. Thank you for listening ☺️☺️

Ps how can I edit my name. I didn't realise it would be used as my profile, derrrrr

Welcome. Just a quick reply, click on your own name at the top and go into your profile, edit and then change to whatever you want to be in here. If that doesn’t make sense ask again, and someone with more sense will give a better answer.

Hi Karen and welcome to the forum. 🙂 You've had it pretty tough. If you have a read around the forum feel free to join in and post - good news, bad news, rants, moans, advice, tips etc, etc.

Hi, welcome to the forum 🙂 Really sorry to hear about the problems you are having to deal with :( We do have members who share some of these difficulties, so hopefully they will be able to help with any questions or concerns you may have. All of us are here to help and support you in any way we can, so please let us know, and feel free to have a good rant about things if it helps to let off some steam.

p.s. I have sent you an email regarding changing your name.

Thank you for all your reply I really appreciate it. Even though I've had diabetes for 37 years it was only six years ago I found out that you can get neuropathy in the brain., the vagus nerve. Taken me all these years to "get" diabetes. Thank you again for your replies
