Relationship to Diabetes
They say that drinking coffee and tea can cause increased urine production, is there a way to actually measure this?
Like say you drank 2 litres of tea would you void exactly 2 litres or more at some point? Would you total urine output for the day be increased?

I'm having some slight increased urination today (more than 2 litres already), however I have drank a fair bit (mainly tea etc), about 2 litres today.
Even so, yesterday I hardly went at all, only about 3 times and total void of 1.4 litres.

With high blood sugar, wouldn't the increase in urination be more frequent and consistent?

Sorry I can’t help, wanted to give your post a bump up m

Hi,
I have had high blood sugars and was urinating every 1/2 hr it was a right pain.
They say tea/coffee can aggravate the bladder thus causing urination soon after drinking it.
Take care

I wee like buggery after drinking tea or coffee. If i'm going out for the day, I make sure I don't have too much tea or coffee in the morning.

Thanks I have been to the doctor now like three times and each time my urine sample comes back negative so there's nothing more to be done as he says my symptoms are too mild and vague.

So what looking back is figured out what this is... I'm having bouts of frequent urination not frequent urination itself as it only happens on some days then not on others. So I'll have three or more days maybe where I'm totally fine, normal urination etc. then suddenly I'll have this bout where I'll go a few times in succession. During this time my pee is clear, almost white colour but what's bothering me is where this extra urine is coming from. I haven't changed my diet or fluid intake. For example last few days I've been totally fine, even slept fine without going but then last night I had a large cup of non caffeine tea, emptied my bladder maybe 40 mins later but then couldn't get to sleep because I was having that sensation like I needed to go again and did go and voided like a fairly decent amount with that clear almost white colour. Where did this come from if I had just voided a short while ago? Still no pain or burning or anything severe before or after peeing.

Then the next day I'm fine again.

The doctor has no idea about this. It's not high blood sugar as I checked my bs during one of these bouts and it was normal. It's not the mirtazapine / remeron as this is not a known side effect. And like I said no infection or uti as urinalysis is always negative. Doctor didn't mention prostate issues, firstly due to my age and secondly because I'm not having any prostate symptoms.

It may seem obsessive but then it is just worrying because I've never had this before and occasionally affecting my sleep now too. So have no idea what to do apart from requesting an urologist appointment. God knows how long that will take.

my dad is 88 and along with DB and lots of other issues too and prostrate as well......however he too has to go regulary for no reason (drinks very little), but sometimes not at all, night is worse, suspect more so bladder issues and thinking about it, but as above coffee is a diuretic, also we've found that cappachino can result in high BG this maybe to do with the warm milk in it and or full fat milk useage that it can be made with (best to ask for a skinny cappa at a cafe), bit of research I have done indicates a cappachino or the warm milk may be an insulin inhibiter so results in higher BG and more trips.

Insist on a PSA test mate - what's the age for prostate cancer? - any age from puberty until death. It may well be more common for chaps over 40 or particularly of Afro-Caribbean heritage - but it doesn't care who or what you are - just the same as most other cancers.

If you don't want to ask him - many prostate cancer support charities arrange this. If you tell us whereabouts you live - I can find out if anyone is running test sessions near you - or if you can find your way to Coventry on a Saturday morning - you'd be welcome at one of our local test sessions - next one is February 17th, another near Nuneaton on March 10th, and normally every couple of months. (tell me by private message if you don't wish to publicise it)

My husband and I are Trustees of a local support association hence have easier access to info regarding a lot of other local organisations which, like our charity, are not affiliated directly to Prostate UK.
