We are all still here if you have more questions as and when they come up.

There is a daily waking thread in the general section of the forums HERE where folks will check in, post their waking reading and have a bit of a chit chat. You (and anyone else reading) is more than welcome to jump in and say hi and get to know some folks.

Glad you feel a little more settled x

Thanks ever so much ….. oh when I’ve got the hang of taking readings and understanding them I’ll certainly love to join in just don’t want to look a fool so I’ll get some reading done.

Yes may even sleep tonight thanks again xx

How did things go yesterday @Disbelief1959 ?

What is the name of the insulins you have been prescribed? Do you have a long acting one as well as a mealtime one? Have you managed to collect everything you need now (insulin pens, needles, strips, BG meter etc).

Have you been given information about a suggested diet and how to find the right level of carbohydrate intake for you?

Hello thanks for your message

Apparently this is how I’m starting and will be increased by my new diabetic nurse.
I’ve been referred for a 12 week online course which I’m hoping will help
My diabetic nurse is hospital based and not through my GP surgery she’s given me all I need which is so good as she made me feel more confident in dealing with this. I’m having to bleed my levels 6 times a day given the levels so yes I think I’ll be good now thanks again sorry I’m not here much as I do this on my phone and it’s not app based so all things are so so small and not good to use

Hi @Disbelief1959 , welcome. You will NOT look like a fool in this forum.

Every one of us has had the abrupt introduction to being diabetic. And I suspect very few of us have had the advantage of having a close family member with personal experience of managing diabetes or bang up to date knowledge in the meds and techniques available today. We all know that diabetes can be complicated, confusing and contradictory. On this forum there is invariably someone who has encountered a problem that someone else is asking about. So don't feel inhibited - dive in if something is bothering you.

I'm delighted for you that your diabetic nurse is hospital based, it is highly likely that she will be what we describe as a DSN (Diabetes Specialist Nurse). Sometimes in GP surgeries there is a Practice Nurse assigned to helping with the management of those patients in the Practice with diabetes and they don't always have the expertise in unusual forms of diabetes. That's you - a T2 started on insulin straightaway.

I'm backing out now, I know very little about T2 and still learning about the intracies of taking insulin! But again, welcome.
