Can anyone tell me why I am 46 hours into a 48 hr fast and my blood sugar is now at 10 mmol? This is the highest it's been in months, I'm confused!
Blood sugar comes from two sources, the food you eat, and the liver, which trickles out glucose 24/7 to keep your brain and vital organs ticking over. If the liver perceives that the body is under stress ( as it will be if you are fasting) it will kick out a bit more glucose to help your body fight off the cause of the stress, and so your blood glucose will rise. Can anyone tell me why I am 46 hours into a 48 hr fast and my blood sugar is now at 10 mmol?
