Last few days I’ve seen my BG levels spike. It’s gone from pretty stable 5.5-6.1 to double that.
I’m thinking of contracting the GP surgery and asking permission to double my metformin from 500x2 once daily to twice daily.

As I’ve said elsewhere I’m not well and am displaying CV19 symptoms so is there anything to be gained by tweaking my meds or should I trust that it’ll revert to normal once the virus careening around my body is dealt with?

I seem to think you also mentioned that you aren't eating as well as you have been due to the lack of supplies? Am I correct with that? I don't believe metformin works in regards to tweaking when unwell so there is no benefit in that way but if you feel you may need to increase it I'd give the GP a call and discuss it with them
xx

Hello @ColinUK
Sorry to hear thing are not so good for you.
Other illness like a cold often cause BG levels to spike, and things usually settle down again afterwards.
But CV19 is unknown territory, so personally I would check with the medics before changing metformin doses.

Very best wishes for a speedy recovery.
I think that you have just moved house? Have you managed to get everything sorted out OK, before not feeling so well?

Sorry to hear you are feeling poorly @ColinUK

Illness could well be having an effect in raising your BG.

Hope you can make contact with your GP for advice. I wonder if it’s worth reducing your carb intake in the meantime? Those double-figure BGs might be making you feel grim.

I’m reducing my carb intake as best I can with what I’ve got in stock.
I’m sure the BG will fall again.

Thank you 🙂
John Lewis delivered the fridge freezer last Thursday so that’s a big improvement on the tiny beer fridge I was having to use before.
Everything else is manageable with although there are obviously things which need to be done... like oiling the kitchen worktop for example - just can’t find the right oil online anywhere so it’ll wait.

Do you have a Wilkinson’s near you Colin?

The one near us is still open, and ours sells ‘Danish Oil’ which is what we’ve always used on our work surfaces.

Dont know about the Oil, but Wilko also do online though not everything is available online. They also do click and collect.
