Best inexpensive hand cream?

When my hands were really bad with my OCD when I was a teenager I got diprobase on prescription and that was good stuff, if all else fails I may just have to try and get an appointment with a doc to see if I can get it again or an alternative to it at least, don't look forward to trying to get an appointment though! LOL x

Yeah, that's good too. I get Dermol and an Oilatum cream on prescription, they're both good and don't have a lot on them. They're just expensive if you want to buy them over the counter.

Kaylz - My hands go through phases of being a bit dire. I'm now linking it to times I inadvertently have gluten (grrrr! Bangs head on desk).

Anyway, when they're at their worst (dry, hard and tend to crack in the bends of my index fingers and thumbs), I use Neutragena , or Nivea Rescue and Care during the day. Both are very food. I also have some lovely Soap and Glory hand cream which pleasant too, but not as "heavy duty" as the others.

At night, at those times, I wear some cotton gloves (from eBay at about £1 a pair) and lather my hands up with E45 or the like and go off to bed. It works, but is a bit odd the first few times, and of course my OH had a bit of a chuckle about it all. In the morning, I just turn the gloves outside in and throw them in the washing basket.

Of course, the real answer, for me, would be not trip up with gluten, but that can be easier said than done sometimes.

That is exactly what happens with my daughter, AndBreathe. She has to wear cotton gloves in bed - more to prevent scratching - and gets a similar reaction from her OH. Men, eh? :D

This is the worst split I have at the moment with others all over the place :(

Ouch, that looks nasty. Go and ask the pharmacist, he/she may be able to advise you.
It is rather sore but unfortunately I don't trust the chemist x

That does look nasty and ouchy, if you don't trust the one chemist, is there any other chemists around that you could ask for advice.

Unfortunately not :( x

When my skin splits, I just use germoline for a bit until it starts getting better and then put cream on overnight.

I would advise that you don't put anything on that has perfume or colour I always use olive oil to clean and Vaseline to protect but this looks like it needs something to help the healing process

The Neutrogena I've got coming is unscented so it should be fine, as long as I get some moisture into them that will heal no problem as they have been much much worse in the past x

Hi there
I use this and it is amazing. Really huge bottle with a pump. Isn’t greasy and soaks in really well. I find most handcreams don’t feel like they ‘get in’ but decided to try this and glad I did.

@ClaudiaKiwi thanks for that, I've got the Neutrogena on just now and its making my hands feel more comfortable already so will stick with it for the time being 🙂 x

I'm so glad to see this thread! Just lately my hands have been awful! Super cracked an dry! which is a pain in itself but it makes it harder trying to self propel a wheelchair! I'm still trying out different creams to find the best, I really like the Neutrogena one and am also using a L'Occitane one that seems quite pricey but thankfully i got it as a Christmas gift. Someone at work has also suggested a Burt's Bees one too but again i think it is quite pricey! I'm definitely going to look in Aldi for the one mentioned above too. Thanks for the recommendations 🙂

@Ruby Red I've also just been recommended to give Avon glycerine hand cream a go too, its £2 a tube x

@Kaylz ooh thank you a work colleague does Avon so I will keep an eye out when the next brochure comes round :D
No problem, I've posted in my local facebay site trying to find a representative near me haha, hopefully there is one so I don't have to pay delivery! :D x

Kaylz - In our local Sainsbury's today they seemed to be rationalising their toiletries/wellbeing section, and lots of hand creams were significantly reduced, including Neutragena, the E45 range and so on..

@AndBreathe aww thanks for that but I don't have a Sainsbury's near me unfortunately x
