Basal Testing Made Easy

I posted a method a while ago for a potter Susan, which I've just looked out, which might help. Obviously, you're starting by taking a photo with the camera,,not screenshotting something, so ignore that bit.
'The way I've done it on an iPad is to screen shot the picture or page I want to post ( hold down on/off button and then press button at centre bottom). Then I click 'post reply' on the forum thread, then the 'upload a file' next to it. This opens a box saying 'select file' , click that and it gives you options, one of which is 'photo library' . Click that, and it takes you to your photos and screen shots, and you can select the image you want. It attaches it, and asks you if you want a thumbnail or a full image. (I always go for full image).'
Thank you! Here it is. Very satisfying, especially when the day before I was chasing unexplained highs all day. The big drop overnight was the correction of a 12.4 before bed. The Libre reads a bit low at the lower end so it wasn't as bad as it looks!

Ooh, impressive!
I find mine reads lower at the bottom end too, I'm in two minds as to whether to show my print out to the nurse at my annual review in a couple of weeks, because she'll have a nervous breakdown about the red bits, even though I know I was generally in the 4s. I find it frustrating that the Libre won't let you set the lower parameter below 3.9.

I was low, but not as low as it said. I took just 6g hypo fix so avoided a rebound. I think the 15 g- 15 minutes rule might be one I am going to dispense with!

I would be interested to hear what your nurse says about it. Mind you if you can show her the output from your meter, it should convince her!

I've read the following sites.. I know it says not to change infusion set close to test but if im fasting from midnight am i able to change it before 8 pm?
Personally I wouldn't 🙂 You are not supposed to change your set late evening anyway just in case something goes wrong and you end up DKA during the night.

Oh i understand makes sense. My DSN did tell me I should only change it at night if i would be awake for 2-3hours after ive changed it because of DKA. I'm finding it so difficult to do the testing as ive got to to do 3 days at work and 3 days of tests at the weekend. It's awkward because of the job I have im not guaranteed to have my lunch break at 1 because of shift patterns which would be when I can eat and im then not going to be able to eat whilst working . I've attempted to do it twice on a work day but once I went to high as I had a hypo at my evening meal and then a few days ago I was hypo at 1am so changed my insulin. It's just frustrating it's taking so long. I went to the clinic a couple of weeks ago and im going again in April and have to have all the tests done which is proving to be difficult atm.

Don't get stressed, do your best but if you haven't been able to do them all just explain the problems you have had. They are for your benefit, not theirs after all. I explained last time I went that a weekday full basal test is impossible for me as I can't get to work without exercise. The consultant told me to do the test at the weekend so I explained that my basal rates are different at the weekend and he didn't have an answer to that! Basal testing is really useful, don't get me wrong, but as most of us don't live in an ideal world, so it's by no means easy especially if you're working.
I take the view that if the combination of basal and bolus is working to keep my levels ok then I'm happy. I don't much care if my bolus is compensating for too little basal, since it only becomes a problem if I don't eat, which is not a regular occurrence!

Hang on there! You only test 6 hours at a time.

So .... get up at 7 and eat brekkie that day. 11 am start testing. Eat some s-f jelly around lunchtime and have a nice cuppa. You don't have to not have tea and coffee - of course you can if you really want to make a martyr of yourself, personally I don't. Also if you generally eat enough carb and don't usually convert protein to BG, you can probably get away with just having some protein as a snackette - so eg a ham omelette. Not like half a dozen eggs and a pound of ham, just enough to keep the grubs from biting if you feel starving.

At 5pm or just after you can have your dinner!

You can just wangle it to suit your life by eating a meal early or late , because you don't do all 4 time blocks on consecutive days.
Very good inf as per normal
