Could be, after breathing in all that weak Southern air for the past 22 years, although it started long before I got here - maybe I got out just in time? 😱 🙂
No, most of the time I forget about it. It has got better over the past 2-3 weeks, but still bad after running. Are you getting this all the time Northie? If so it can't be exercise induced. Hope you get it sorted. 🙂
Glad you had a good appointment. The appointment went well. Nurse checked my chest and it was clear, asked me lots of questions about the symptoms, when they occur etc., plus a few questions about my smoking history. She also gave me a 'peak flow' test. I've got to have another appointment next month for a spirometry test and also go to the hospital to get a chest x-ray done. She also gave me a prescription for an inhaler to see if it helps - hoping it will 🙂
I also got a few questions about my diabetes - had to laugh when she noted that my last HbA1c, from January, was 'too low' at 5.3% (34 mmol/mol). I then explained to her about how often this crops up on the forum, and how having a few mild hypos does not presage imminent coma and death 🙄 I think she accepted what I was saying! 🙂 I am getting a referral to the hospital clinic for my diabetes, which is good. They also have a walk-in blood clinic at the surgery, so I had my bloods taken for everything, including some tests I don't believe I've had before, such as thyroid function.
A good appointment 🙂
Is that the same as a spirometry test? I'm having that done next month - apparently it's a 30-40 minute appointment and that was the earliest they could get one that long. You can’t diagnose COPD from a Peak Flow reading. Or, I indeed, an X-ray, if the condition isn’t well established. You need a FEV test (forced expiratory volume).
Mind you, Northie, I don’t think you’ve got COPD, so chasing that particular diagnosis is futile.
Which surgery are you going to Alan? Church Avenue by any chance? That's where I go. Glad you are getting everything sorted here. Hopefully we can meet up before too long. The appointment went well. Yes. Although it seems a bit unnecessary, it will reassure you that your lungs are normal, if a little sensitive. We know that’s true, because a 5k run was just a warm up a year ago, and you haven’t been down a coal mine and smoking 40 a day since. Is that the same as a spirometry test?
