Anyone working towards anything at the moment?

WOW talking about targets & outside of work to (I work in sales so it’s all target driven & KPI’s when I’m at work)

Weight Loss
My BMI is now down to sitting in the middle of overweight section on the NHS scale (according to NHS BMI Calculator)
Target I want to be by Easter this year, loose another 10 KG that should then get me out of the overweight section so my BMI says I’m at a “healthy weight”

Fitness
I need to increase my fitness, especially now I’ve turned 60 and it’s almost 2 years ago I had ankle surgery, also as I’ve lost weight my body does need toning up 😉 slightly Mrs @goodybags keeps saying I’m looking a bit saggy and will soon need ironing last summer I did a introduction to fitness & healthy eating program which was sponsored by the EFL which was a great help and gave me a kick start but need to do a bit more I know

Diabetes Management
My last Hba1c was 48 (back in September) which myself and all my HCT were happy with, I want to ensure it doesn’t go crazy again even if my GP & DSN are right, when they say we can do a 6 month plan to get me off of Insulin, but I just want to keep my HbA1c at a respectable number

my Goals this year keep hba1c levels under 41 ,im trying to manage my diabetes with diet only so still managing to keep my levels within normal range however told last week by my Gp that my cholesterol had shot up so at the moment trying to get that down with diet as well 🙄

I just found myself absent-mindedly about diabetes (or other health-metric) targets.

Over the years I’ve found it has helped me to set goals every once in a while. Perhaps in terms of time in range, weight loss, reducing the amount of time spent below 4.0, units of alcohol consumed…

At the moment I confess I’m mostly just pootling along. But I know that when I’m trying to effect change, setting definite, measurable, and achievable goals can be a really helpful strategy. And it can really help to share them with others, as it keeps you accountable, and allows folks to offer you encouragement and support.
If you are actively working towards a specific goal, perhaps you’d like to share it here, how that is going, and what you are doing to try to achieve that. 🙂
I'm taking early retirement at the end of next month so that I can focus on doing more cycling, given that cycling has a massive impact on my blood glucose levels - irrespective of what I eat.

I don't know if this is because cycling gets my body using whatever residual insulin production/metabolism I have more effectively, or if it's because I burn carbs more efficiently when I'm cycling, or if it's because I'm less stressed when I cycle - or a combination of these factors!

Having just had my latest hba1c through, my goal is to stop eating rubbish! Crept up to 41 from 39. Since another point will put me into pre-diabetic range I need to seriously return to the old and trusted methods which I know work. Going to the christmas markets in Germany was a big mistake as I couldn't resist all the gingerbread. Then I had Christmas and the January blues where it's easier to stop walking early and go home for a biscuit instead of pushing on to 20k steps.
I know the lighter nights and warmer weather will help, but it's down to me to make it happen. No more pootling along for me right now!
So, gingerbread is your weakness. I am 'preparing' for Easter, my weakness, all those yummy Cadbury Easter eggs winking and calling me. Hba1c to be booked before Easter. What I don't understand is my joy at eating Easter eggs while I wouldn't eat an entire bar of the same chocolate only a different shape. Sigh.

From a diabetes side I'm aiming to have maintained my HbA1c at around my 3 month check which was 39 and to be able to look at reducing/stopping the Metformin at my next GP/DN appointment.

More generally I'm hoping to roughly maintain my weight and look at reducing body fat percentage/increase muscle whilst increasing fitness and looking to pick up a sport by the summer, possibly tennis or badminton. This thread is motivation to set some specific targets for this as I think they'll pay dividends over my current vague objectives.

And my main target is to reach my 81st birthday which is in nine weeks time.
