Any advice/help appreciated ? Treatment induced neuropathy

I can only hope! still taking pregabalin and that has been increased to 300mg a day. Yes, still stopped the atorvastatin, discussed it all with my GP. Seems I'm making the decisions, but my GP is on board with it all. Just want some relief, I'll try anything! This forum has helped more than anything, so grateful for the help/advice.
Has anyone had B12 injections? Did they hurt? More importantly, did they help with neuropathic pain/numbness?

Other half says they don't hurt, they use one 1 size bigger needle than for vaccines and no after pain in the arm.
As to whether they help who knows. Certainly they help OH with general aches but he does not have neuropathic pain.

@PattiEvans has them regularly I believe so hopefully she can reassure you about any discomfort from injection.
Effectiveness as regards your neuropathic pain and numbness will be an individual thing and depend upon whether the nerves can repair. Keeping active and stimulating blood flow to those nerves will be important to help them repair. Without blood flow, they will only get worse.

Thanks, I'll do anything to help my numb, aching legs and pain underfoot.
Hopefully, the pregabalin and the neurophysiotherapist can help with the moving around as it's not easy for me.

Keep in mind that sitting still is the worst thing for blood flow to your feet, so keeping them up and wriggling your toes regularly and circling your ankles or getting an exercise bike if you think you can manage that or one of those little machines that you can pedal whilst sitting or just rolling them backwards and forwards on a rolling pin on the floor. Keeping them moving and keeping your BG levels as well managed as possible will be key to improvement.

Hope the pregabalin gives you some relief and the vitamin B12 injections help.

Been sat with a rolling pin moving my feet and doing exercises regularly! Had my 1st B12 injection, 5 left to go!!

Fingers crossed you start to see some improvement soon.

Hope it works out well @ridder

Not much improvement and getting desperate now! Has anyone taken R-Alpha Lipoic Acid? Can I ask which one and where from? There are many different suppliers and looking at them all is a mine field! There is Doctors Best and Swanson??? TIA

Had the last of my B12 injections. I don't feel I'm getting much support from my GP and health team, (or lack of it.) Given pregabalin and no further treatment options. This medication on its own doesn't seem to be helping! Should i ask for something to combine with it? I have ordered alpha-lipoic acid, ( ill watch my BG levels closely.) These forums help me more, at least more support as feeling really alone in this.

Sorry to hear the options you’ve tried haven’t been working well for you so far @ridder

How is your BG management at the moment? Are you noticing a flare-up of your pain and discomfort when your blood glucose levels are higher (this has been mentioned by some members in the past).

Hope you find a combination of meds that gives you some relief - long-term pain is so draining :(

Hi @ridder sorry to hear you are still struggling with your neuropathy. It's so debilitating. I hope the alpha linoic acid helps along with the B12 etc. Sending you hugs while your body is trying to heal itself. Feel free to vent on here if it helps

Yeh, I can't believe it's been 5 months, and nothing is helping. Going to ask my GP, albeit by phone if I can add either amitriptyline or duloxetine to the pregabalin to see if this will help. The alpha lipoic acid should arrive by the end of the week. Fingers crossed

Thank you. My BG levels are pretty good and stable right now. Fingers crossed alpha-lipoic acid and additional meds to the pregabalin (duloxetine or amitriptyline) might help as no relief to this debilitating situation right now!

Just received my alpha-lipoic acid, the tablets are 100mg. After reading what others have said about dosage, I'm confused as to what dose might help with the numbness! Anyone?? Thanks
You can take between 600mg and 18,000mg according to what my GP said ....I got up to 1200mg and there was no improvement so I stopped them.
I take 2 pregabalin and 2 amitriptyline and that seems to have been the best solution. That and keeping feet and legs warm and moving. The shop on here sells socks and inner soles, they help.
Best wishes for you getting sorted x

I take pregabalin but going to talk to my GP about amitriptyline or duloxetine to take alongside it. What doses of each are you taking? Anything to help!

My relative had neuropathy (non-diabetic) and took 600mg of Alpha Lipoic acid a day. Started with 200mg then built up to the 600mg per day. They also took Benfotiamine and a few other supplements I can’t remember now, but those were the main ones plus Vit B12 and a B Complex vitamin.

The recommendation was actually 800mg ALA a day, but it’s not cheap and the 600mg worked @ridder
