My Nurse didn't like my BP so she spoke to the GP and the next thing I know 5mg Amlodipine. When I collected the tablets the pharmacy had put 'Do not take with Grapefruit' on the label and sure enough thats what it said in the patient leaflet. BNF didn't specifically say anything and the internet seemed to have mixed ideas. Anyway 2 months later (and 6 grapefruit in the bin) I get a repeat and this was a different manufacturer. Same notice from the pharmacy but the patient leaflet said 'Consumption of grapefruit juice or Grapefruit does not affect Amlodipine'. Asked the Pharmacist - I know nothing. Phoned the doctor - well it's a low dose so it's probably OK. And guess what - I can eat my favorite (and almost only) fruit with impunity.
