More of the same AJ - I burst out laughing when my b/f was moaning about how the after effects of treatment for her breast cancer had had effects on her in ways one would never imagine - case in point when I asked Like what? was when she knelt down to do anything - apparently she could no longer regain her normal upright stance, without grabbing on to something eg a kitchen worktop, for assistance.

I was pleased to inform her I'd had to start doing that probably at least a year before her - though I'm actually almost 6 whole weeks younger than she - the trouble is of course we never like to accept any sign of AD whatsoever whether it's grey hair or something actually debilitating. I know I had a DEXA scan of my hips once which showed thinning on one side and was astounded to discover 'it's normal' for whatever age I happened to be at the time. Early 50s I believe - however by 67 the ortho surgeon who operated on my knee told me there was no sign of ageing anywhere around my knee whether in bones or soft tissue - so progression isn't inevitable by any means.

Hence of course I send you hugs - but also hope that you have a bit of old fashioned good LUCK, mate!

Big hugs Amanda, I too have hip pain, I also had X ray which showed deterioration and panicked but doc said it was pretty normal wear and tear, it did show bursitis which is the main cause of the pain. It is awful being in pain, I tried the Amytripalin (sp?) and it made me far too dopey, a steroid injection is next on my list if it doesn’t get any better. I find it hurts more in bed when I lie on it than when I walk! Take care and I as said to @Amigo last week, in the words of Kelly Clarkson, “ What doesn’t kill you makes you stronger”. Whatevs!! 😉

Hugs and more hugs! X

Hugs from me AJ.

I had a steroid injection for my left hip bursitis and it was great. Not particularly uncomfortable, but the freer movement was noticeable very quickly, and for months.

Later, I had a steroid injection under X-ray control into the hip joint. It’s the most painful thing I’ve ever experienced. But then I’ve never given birth. That was just to see if it really was the joint causing the pain, and whether I could do with a new one.

What a pain AJ ~ Count me in too ~ hip and lumbar pain aaarrrrggghhhhhh! So debilitating and often more so the day after any type of exercise. My GP told me 22yrs ago that I couldnt have a hip replacement until I was 60yrs of age. Well that birthday is long gone!!! He told me a load of b$#@₩%ks coz I'm still waiting and still in agony but I've plodded on regardless. I've had a few steroid injections in my shoulders and knees and tho I found them painful at the time I did notice a remarkable difference several days later combined with physiotherapy.
More hugs and hope you find some resolve soon.

Oh no. That’s horrid. Sorry. Wishing you the best

Sending hugs to you, hope you are feeling better.

I am so sorry to read your post AJ. Sending you lots of hugs {}. I hope that MikeyB is right and also that you will find something to help you. I had a little smile when even now I saw your positive attitude coming through. You will get through this. Sending you positive thoughts.

Lots of hugs. It's such a worry.

Sometimes our bodies are like a house of cards. We're so careful and cautious ourselves, then some little, unexpected breeze comes along and you run around trying to keep the house from too much damage. But the breeze passes and you begin to rebuild.

The rheumatology people and OT can give give advice, and I'm just recovering from steroid injections myself, last Thursday. The injections helped me last time for nearly six months, and I used that time to build strength under the advice of the OT. I'm sure that caused a longer period of wellness.

Give yourself time, I know it's a worry, but you'll find some answers. You won't let it keep you down, I hope. x

Thank you everyone. You've given me a lot to think about. Apologies for not replying to individual messages but I'm still feeling rather spaced out from the labythinritis. I've decided to give the amitriptylene another go - but I can't risk it increasing my BG levels like it did before so I will be even more intense with my monitoring than before - but if it continues to affect the gastroparesis and therefore BGs I won't have any choice. Anyhow I'm feeling more positive and will get over these latest hurdles 🙂

Sorry I meant to say hugs to all of you (and Mark's wife) who are also suffering x

Sorry to hear you are having problems AJ.

If I forget my amitriptylene at night I notice it in my BG. It does have an effect but once you have it sorted (or as sorted as we ever can) I find it well worth it, and I do monitor my levels more closely. I know for you there are a number of other issues that makes it all a lot more complex, but I hoe that you can get it sorted for you, as I know that it had a big impact when you started taking it.

Thank you Karen, Susie and SB2015. I'm trying to get my BG under control and keeping fingers crossed that this will work with the amitriptylene 🙂

Sorry I missed this .
Big
