If it makes you feel any better, I have a medical appointment today, this one I definitely have apprehension of.
Hope all goes well Owen...and while doesn't make me feel any better to hear about your appointment...somewhat reassuring to know I am not just a hysterical 'Betty' sufferer...and sometimes our anxieties...whether justified or not... are just unavoidable.

Good luck for today bubbsie though I really don't think you need any! You've been doing really well and I'm sure your efforts and results will show this too.
Look forward to hearing how you get on!
Thanks Lindarose...I have made some effort to get off the Metformin Bandwagon...may be anxious because it's been a long time since last appointment with him...9 weeks...so need to regain my composure...and ask the right questions...will update later.

Good luck, Bubbsie. My GP wanted to put me on statins as my Cholesterol is 6.8, despite the fact my breakdown was good. I told her l will discuss it with my DSN. DSN said no need for statins.

@Owen I hope it's only good news for you.

Not after reading this mornings mail. Anyway I wont wish @Bubsie good luck, because everything she has done is for a positive reason. There is not an out-dated HCP that can take that away, with time and effort, she will be reporting how she controlled her now distant memory of besting this disease.

Thanks Mark...back from GP...wished I hadn't bothered going...nothing positive about my appointment...bloods came back at 66...he says need to get them lower ( as if I didn't know that)...I point out was 17.4 at the start...gone done to an average of 7.9...he says don't know what HbA1c was at the start...Bedford pathology do not give a breakdown of HbA1c at the start...and converting the BG level to mmols does not give an accurate figure...so I now have another script increasing the Metformin to three a day...no reduction on the Warfarin (DVT)...another referral to haematologist for assessment...so have to stay on those...still not keen on my testing doesn't give an accurate picture...weight lost 17 Kgs since August...blood pressure in normal range at the moment...but again no reduction on the Ramipril...fortunately he accepted my readings...got a grudging well done on weight loss and blood pressure...but overall he says my control of my diabetes in still in the inadequate range...need to bring it down...cholesterol could do better...another review in three months...fed up...****ed off (are we allowed to say that here)...I certainly wasn't complacent before appointment...but had hoped for a bit more positive news...back to the drawing board...feel like I may end up as a morbidly obese couch potato...minus toes etc...with only the Jeremy Kyle show for company!

Huge well done on weight loss, huge well done on bg improvements, huge well done on bp. You are at the top of the class.

Owen I hope your appointment goes better than mine...thoroughly disappointed ****ed off...and demoralised...despite bringing my BG's down from17.4 to an average of 7.9 GP says my control is still in adequate...cholesterol is slightly down...but he feels I could do better...so more medication...more referrals...more effort from me...if I didn't have the girls here...would be straight back to bed for the rest of the day...possibly week!

Thanks Owen...not feeling it today...GP so fudging dispassionate...told him that...asked him if anything positive about results...his response...'well I have patients who's numbers are in the 100's...so doing better than them...and you are only at the start of your journey'...so gave him a 'virtual bitch slap' right there and then...

Smile and wave, if you truly believe that you do not need the extra meds, then carry on at your current level keep every third tablet and take them to your next review, which will be amazing judging by your current efforts. Then when he says I told you this was the correct way forward. Hand them over and politely ask him to dispose of them.

still not keen on my testing doesn't give an accurate picture
I often wonder how much better they think they could do themselves if they think it's so easy? Ignore such negativity Bubbsie, some people just find it hard to be encouraging and think they have to bully you, even though you are actually doing terrifically well! 🙂 These things don't happen overnight and we're all witness to the hard work you're putting in, and the successes it is bringing 🙂

So, he thinks that NOT testing gives a more accurate picture of your tolerances for different food and the impact of your weight loss and other adaptations than testing does? I'm afraid I lose respect for people who make statements like that, under the illusion that what they say is superior to the evidence of your own eyes... 🙄

Your GP's bedside manner leaves a lot to be desired, Bubbsie. Instead of saying 'must try harder' when you're already doing your darnedest, he should be saying, ' here's what you need to support your efforts!'

Hope your appointment goes better than expected today, Owen.

It's a thought Owen...not sure I am brave enough to do that...going to mull it over...always the possibility I could do worse...and he may want to increase it...however...would like to give it a try.

Whatever you do don't take advice from me, I am becoming a middle aged anarchist. I need to control my thoughts better. But hell, if it works, or less argumentative, don't tell him, just smile and know that you were right.

Oh, Bubbsie, you are doing so well, don't let a plonker of a GP upset you! You've made positive changes, and should feel proud of what you've achieved so far. Even my GP, who is very pleased with my progress, said at the last appointment, 'you don't need to test...' - which is just plain dumb, as it 's only testing that has got me this far! 🙄 . Come here for the support you need, Bubbsie, we're all with you.

All the best for your appointment too, Owen.

Thank you Northerner...did bring me down a bit...we had a discussion...told him I had seen results online...his response...'well then you know your control is still inadequate'...wanted to tell him to fudge off...had such a negative impact on me...need to pick myself up now.
