My first review with GP this morning since 'Betty' arrived...feeling apprehensive...particularly since reading some of the previous posts on here this week...checked blood pressure within normal range this morning...BG at 7.0 on waking (lowest I've had in the morning so far)...weight going down steadily...cholesterol total is 7 so not great...so still working on that

Fingers crossed.

Hi Bubbsie. If it were possible I'd say try not to worry, but I know it's not possible for you not to, so I won't say it. After all the work you've put in its more likely you're going to give your GP a supprise.
Just remember you know more about your diabetes than s/he or anyone else does for that matter.
Let us know how you get on k.

Thanks Ljc...I feel I should be looking forward to this appointment...I know I have made some good progress...however...concerned he may concentrate on the less favourable cholesterol results...so getting ready for the possibility of a discussion on statins (he has mentioned them in the past)...yes I agree I probably do know more about my diabetes than he does...but only since I came on here...so concentrating on the positives for now...remember not to panic...I am still a work in progress.

Bubbsie you are seeing a doctor who is really only there to assist you to manage your own health condition. In your post you have listed the sugnufant health improvements that you have made and pointed out where you know you need to improve; cholesterol. Your improvements are very impressive and your doctor should acknowledge this readily. They are not there to tear a strip off you or intimidate you and you should in no way fear or be apprehensive of the appointment.

I have my review today, but mine always done by the Diabetic Nurse!

Good luck with your review. Let us know how it goes! Doctors seem to push statins on everybody but not everybody needs them! Your BG levels are coming down so don't be nervous about telling him how well you're doing

Thanks DL...I'm not intimated by him...and certainly wouldn't expect him/or let him to tear a strip off me...although I understand some GP's and DSN's do occasionally...just an overall sense of disappointment in his approach so far...learnt little from him...just take the pills...buy carbs & calories...see you in two months...no DSN...no diabetes clinic...no 'real' advice...that's where my apprehension kicks in...had it not been for the Forum...would still be 'Wandering in the Diabetes Wilderness'...that's where my apprehension kicks in...however...might be pleasantly surprised...I live in hope DL.

Thanks Rosie...he has briefly touched on the Statins...said we could consider them if needed ...and I am happy to discuss it with him...but I know what my answer will be...NO THANK YOU...have a couple of points to discuss with him...want to have a reasoned discussion with him...rather than be labelled non-compliant...already marked down as 'non attending' for a mammogram appointment made without consulting me...when I was so ill wasn't sure I knew what day of the week it was...so need that amended...fingers crossed.

Good luck today

I suspect you are doing a lot better than the majority of his patients - we aspire to very high standards here 🙂 Good luck, I hope you (and he) are pleasantly surprised and that it goes well 🙂

Good luck Bubbsie. You are doing fantastically 😎

Its not the destination, its the journey!

And you having one hell of a good ride.
So far Owen...going in with a positive attitude...and a lot more knowledge/ information than when I last saw him...who knows...he may learn something!!

Do you know what your cholesterol HDL/LDL ratio is? That's more important than the overall figure. Ask your GP for the figures.

Going to ask him about those figures Robin...did look them up online...before could write them all down...locked myself out of the system...I know the triglyceride level is down...and overall Cholesterol Total is down from 8.1 to 7.0...then it cut out on me...will be going through those with him in detail...have my notebook ready...thank you.

Good luck for today bubbsie though I really don't think you need any! You've been doing really well and I'm sure your efforts and results will show this too.
Look forward to hearing how you get on!

If it makes you feel any better, I have a medical appointment today, this one I definitely have apprehension of.
