10 year old Son diagnosed T1D

If she’s low in the night, have you tried giving her a sugary drink with a straw? We found that we could just stick a straw in our daughter’s mouth and tell her to drink and she’d suck it without even waking up properly. Saves a lot of time trying to wake her up first. Don’t know if I’d have tried injections without waking her, she was on a pump so it was easy to do corrections without disturbing her at all. I think we did find we could do a finger prick without waking her up, before we had sensors!

First of all...hello @Kiwiwasp and welcome to the forum...and secondly like a lot of people I know what it's like to hear about a loved one being diagnosed with diabetes.Both my older brother and sister are T1D sufferers like me and it was heartbreaking to hear when they diagnosed..but you need to stay strong and do all the right things for your son.
 
Hello and welcome to the forum it seems a lot to take in at first and process all the information but gets easier with time.I was diagnosed 5 years ago and struggled at first but have always tried to remain positive.I started running after being diagnosed and I am not running ultra marathons so it will not stop you from doing anything
