Hi, I had to stop Empagliflozin 6 months ago as it was knocking me out 3 hours after taking and giving me anaphylaxis. Usually lost 2 hours each time. Never had another occurance since stopping them. Cheers

    Hello

...my Metformin is no longer controlling my diabetes and blood sugar is high particularly in the morning. I have also now been started on Empagliflozin 25 mg in combination with Metformin. Still having high morning blood sugar. I am hoping over time the swimming will help to reduce this. It's...

    New tablets

Hi, Empagliflozin caused me all sorts of problems, the worst being unable to stay standing without sudden falling to the left. Not vertigo, I would be walking normally and for unknown reason suddenly start falling to the left , no vertigo feelings just falling able to catch myself, with vertigo...

Welcome to the forum @Cavalier163. How long have you lived with diabetes? I see from your other thread you’ve been put on empagliflozin. Do you take any other medications?

    New tablets

The advise is to make sure you drink plenty of fluids as that medication encourages the kidneys to excrete excess glucose via urine so will usually involve plenty of loo visits so you need to make sure you don't get dehydrated. Is this the first medication you have been put on or are you taking...

Accuracy of Libre 2 sensor readings

You are right to ques medication. I have been on Metformin and Empagliflozin for long time and okay with it. Recently I had high levels blood sugar 17 plus HbA1c 83 (my fault took eyes off diabetes, parties, drink, takeaways. holidays......) Dr put me on Gliclazide but that gave me very lows...

Beaten down bloody broken bloated, but not dead yet

I'm fortunate never to have taken any medication to help manage my diabetes. My suggestion was only that; a suggestion. Some folks have managed to accommodate the medication very well, but of course, one size does not fit all. There are over 400 combinations of drugs available to help treat...

Beaten down bloody broken bloated, but not dead yet

...Pharma Sales Pitch quote "It can push twenty teaspoons of sugar out of your kidneys at the higher dose, this will help with weight loss, and managing diabetes too!" Empagliflozin side effects again as most details missing from poor quality NHS website...

    Hba1c 124mmol

I'm on 2000mg of metformin and 25mg on empagliflozin. I thought I would try magnesium, not just because it helps insulin resistance and lowers blood sugar, but also helps mental health and sleep so worth a try

    HI

...for being overweight and eating too much of the wrong things between meals, got put on Metformin and gliclazide, now on Metformin and Empagliflozin. Progress to day, I have lost 16.6kg/36lb and had my first HbA1c since diagnosis back from the docs today and its down to 35, so feels like a...

Very High Ketones - Keto Mojo

Yes, I can’t eat a low carb diet because I get ketones and symptoms of ketoacidosis very easily. I’ve only actually had DKA caused by empagliflozin, but there have been numerous other times where I’ve felt sick, had high ketones, been sick, and fixed it myself without a hospital admission by...

Well done on changing your diet. When I look at all the recommendations for what to eat to lower cholesterol it is all the things I’m eating.

    Statin thoughts……

...I was asked if I wanted to take Atorvastatin to control my Cholesterol and I said yes, no side effects. The Gliclazide was swapped to Empagliflozin in September. In February of this year my Hb1Ac was 47 and I was taken off Metformin due to it causing chronic diarrhoea, they had tried slow...

    Group 7-day waking average?

...yesterdays 8.0 wasn’t so bad, and Wednesday it was 8.4 the switch from Trulicity (no stock / not available) to instead increasing Empagliflozin might not be having the effect the GP was hoping for ! I’m going to need to make some changes to a stricter diet, Un-surprisingly I’m putting on...

    Empagliflozin

I've been on Empagliflozin 10mg and Metformin SR 2000mg since May last year. Metformin was not really achieving anything, neither weight loss, nor bringing my HbA1c down. I was offered choice of Empagliflozin or Trulicity injections, but didn't fancy weekly injections, not to mention the number...

    Empagliflozin

Why, if I may ask, are they suggesting Empagliflozin when your A1c is down from 106 to 55? You mention a honeymoon period. Would it not make sense, again if I may say so, to focus more on diet than medication at such a time?
