I think its if you have just 1 of them you fall into the venerable group, however I don't fall into one of them groups, and I have still received my text. This I have been told is because the combination of my conditions. (My daughter told me this, not because she has access to my medical details, but she works in part of the research and development department of the QMC university medical school after finishing her PHD)

Yes you could have one, more or a combination of them megga. Your GP or specialist must have factored in your clinical vulnerability to recommend you for inclusion on the list.
Good luck with your ‘confinement’. I’m in the same position.

Hi grovesy and thanks. Just popping by to say hello. Lots of hours to fill at the moment!
Nice to see you here Amigo

Well the original text at the beginning of the week, was just sent to everyone with a mobile phone account.

The specific letter, in England, arrived at our house this morning and was signed off with the name of our GP surgery. Addressed to my husband, cos he's vulnerable but not me cos I'm not considered to be particularly At Risk. He has severely limited lung capacity, hence he is at particular risk.

As far as i know, Diabetics are and are not included. They are to a point, but only if they have other problems like kidney, liver, lungs etc or whether or not there diabetes is out of control and really bad. So for me, chances are, i wont get the stay away from work letter. That being said, if this virus happened when i was diagnosed, then yes, i would get it as the doctors/nurses etc said my condition was extremely bad. I happened to be off for a month from work and was supposed to still be off after it, but decided to go back to work and give it a go.

You will only be away from work if you have more problems to which, stress, depression and mental illness isn't included. The only problem i have is getting food. I can't seem to do an online order now and the shop i work in as well as many others have been ripped apart by the panic buyers. Online seems to be for those who have to isolate. Me not being a driver, i will only be able to carry what i can, specially as i have no one to rely on to help.

When it comes to the virus in general, diabetics will be like anyone else, easy to catch, however, its when we have it that makes us worse off. Someone who isn't diabetic might recover quicker and better without any problems. Those who are diabetic most certainly have a hard time fighting it and will have other problems in the long run. That being said, if a 21year old who has no health problems caught the virus and died, then sadly, anyone else can, ill or not.

Hey all,

I was just wondering, if there's going to be 1.5 million people told to stay home for 12 weeks, how long will it take to actually contact everyone? I mean, it seems like that's an awful lot of the population, so it probably includes a lot of the people on this forum. But do we have a time limit on how long before we can consider ourselves not in that list?

I know its going to take them some time to actually figure out who is within the proper "at risk" class, given complicated histories etc. Or is it just a series of tick boxes?

I'm not that bothered, just curious how its going to work. I assume there's like a points system or something?

Anyone in the know?
Hi im new here. I got a text yesterday.

the letter is to people in England Only. this is also the database that Sainsbury's is using for releasing delivery slots (talk about data security). Scotland, Wales and NI folk will have to wait for some other mechanism.

Diabetes on it is own does not automatically put you in the very high risk catergory, if you have other conditions aswell.

Tesco just texted scottish customers to ask those who can to shop within the supermarket to save delivery slots for vulnerable and elderly.

good luck on that, whilst asda website is finally running, they have no slots, Sainsbury's won't give you a slot unless you are on their list and Tesco says oops something went wrong when you try to get a slot.
