I have been Diabetic for 18 years and I still don't understand everything. I am New to the Forum and would also like to say Hello to all the other Newbies like me

Hello. I'm new here as of yesterday and joined because I'm anxious about the Coronavirus. I'm 62 and have been type1 for 57years, take 12units of Toujeo every morning and between 1 and five units of Fiasp at mealtimes and have the most dreadful highs and lows no matter what I do. How do you manage yours?

Hello @Jaxsand and @Padfoot
Welcome to the forum, There is a forum section useful-links-for-people-new-to-diabetes which you may find helpful.
There is also a section on the General Message board, which has current information on Coronovirus.

Please let us know about anything you would like more information on and we will try to help. Also if you have a general browse around the site you will find a variety of topics to look at.

@Padfoot I will copy in my friend @SB2015 who may be able to help with your Type 1 questions.

Best wishes

Hi Padfoot
A well managed T1 is no more likely to get Corona Virus than anyone else. I have posted some info in your thread as a newbie. Keep asking questions.

Welcome to the forum Jaxsand.

I am still learning after 12 years. This is a good place to do that.
Plenty of help and support that live with this like you.

Any questions just ask. Otherwise just keep in touch.

Hi and welcome @Jaxsand - The general consensus of opinion about diabetes is...just when you think you know it all and are doing well, the BIG D like to come and bites you in the .....hmmmm. 🙄LOL - its just one of those monsters that doesnt like to stay quiet!. Best we can do is eat well, keep within range (if possible). Be self aware. Be as fit as we can. but above all - dont let it ruin your life. We take control, not it! All the best 🙂

Good to hear from you. Up until ten years ago I worked as a nanny and walked about twelve or more miles a day and then arthritis set in ... I now sit in a chair and can barely make it down the garden some days! My hands have been quite painful for the last thirty years as I developed something rather strange called The Diabetic Prayer!!! Has anyone else encountered this?

Welcome to the forum @Jaxsand

I don’t think any of us will ever feel like we know everything... or even most things about diabetes! There’s always something to learn.

And diabetes does love to thrown in surprises!
