I have just signed up to the forum, as it will be a place to chat/get tips/recipes etc I am Type 2 and I definifely have portion distortion, though trying to be better at it ;-)

Best Tip: Get a Blood Glucose Meter that uses cheap test strips and use them to find out which foods don't spike your Blood glucose. The ones most people use are the SD CodeFree or the Spirit TEE2.

Next Tip: Eat real foods.
Another tip: Most find that Carbohydrates are their enemy. Don't believe that you need carbs with every meal (or even at all). Fat is your friend with the possible exception og the highly processed high Omega 6 seed oils (commonly mis-labelled as 'vegetable Oil').

Thank you 🙂

Over time I have found that the amount of food I can eat has reduced, so I have only two meals a day, and they have shrunk in size since diagnosed. This due, I think to sticking to highly nutritious low carb foods.
Carbs do tend to make you hungry as they bounce your blood glucose level up and down by stimulating the release of insulin.

Hi and welcome to the forum, glad you have joined us as we all have lots to offer should you need. I am also T2 and found reducing my carbs really brought my bg levels right down so that now I am in the pre-diabetic range. Please have a look round the site and ask any questions you have at all. Sue

Welcome @footballharmony1

You have had lots of advice above.
Do ask any questions that you have.
Nothing is considered silly on here.
