Who’s up for this? It will be a Saturday to accommodate the wage slaves and hopefully on a non sporting event day! Chuck some dates at me you can or can’t do and suggestions for venue, do we do The Sir John Moore, close to Glasgow Central or the one I organised last year, and I can’t for the life of me remember it’s name, that I didn’t go to in the end? July or August or even later? Elaine.

Can't do 17th - maybe 24th??

Should have went to Specsavers @Hazel, it’s the 17th @Carolg and I can’t do! I would say 24th August is the start of the English bank holiday weekend so prices and availability on the train might be a problem for anyone ie me, coming from over the border. Week before, 12th, any good?

I know I won’t be going, but just to say Saturday 10th Rangers play Hibernian, so Glasgow Queen St will be busy with fans coming over from Edinburgh, and on the 24th Celtic will be playing Hearts, so same problem at Queen St.

I say that because you did ask about sporting events. Glasgow Central should be reasonably OK both days. There are no Premiership games on the 17th.

I could do the 12th

Could possibly make two sats in august, would need to know in advance to book train tickets.

The Sir John Moore, close to Glasgow Central

Last few times in glasgow gone in this pub for a cheap meal, good food but is so busy, even on a weekday. You would struggle to find a table on a weekend for a group meeting, also it would be impossible to hear each other above the noise in the place.

How about 1st w/e in Sept, gives everyone time to get cheap tickets

We had that problem the first time we met in the Sir John Moore, unbeknown to us there was a Scotland V England footie match on! Very noisy and at times a bit scary! Last year I pre booked our table at the pub I can’t remember the name of. @mikeyB can you remember? Do you have any suggestions for a “ quieter” pub, if there’s such a thing in Glasgow? We’ve been to The Counting House, that was busy too and I got lost getting to and from the station! :D

I have a wedding on the 7th and going to France for most of the rest of September but if everyone else is ok with that I’m fine, or what about later this month?

20th or 27th July is OK with me

Just remembered the pub’s name. The Auctioneers. I didn’t go but think it was ok. Anyone up for later this month? 20/27th?

27 th would be ok for me. I could maybe rearrange for 20 th but not sure

I'm taking part in an MS Fundraiser Quiz on 17th Aug and then going to a dinner in the evening.

The 24th is ok for me.

The following weekend, Rangers play celtic but that'll probably be moved to the Sunday for SKY. Again, that should be ok for me too.

Didn't realise you have all been before to the SJM.

Don't know of any quiter pubs, guess they will all be noisy in glasgow.

I can’t do 27th July. What about to give everyone plenty of notice we go for 31st August. Hopefully according to the font of all sporting knowledge @mikeyB that should be clear. And it looks like The Sir John Moore will be our best bet as it’s so central and no more noisy or quieter than anywhere else. We probably could be here all day trying to get a date to suit everyone. I was thinking of organising a Newcastle one also, after this one is sorted, and maybe some Northern waifs and strays could do that if they can’t make Bonnie Scotland. I will get there before 11 and grab us a big table, any mobility issues I need to know about? Could a mod (@everydayupsanddowns is this the sort of thing you can do )sticky this for me please? Cheers.

31st August is fine with me

So folks. We’re going for Saturday 31st August from 11am at The Sir John Moore, Argyle Street. Glasgow. Cheap and cheerful Wetherspoons. Hope to see lots of you there.
