If the amount of basal insulin you take isn't correct i.e it doesn't keep your BG more or or less level in the absence of food you will be compensating for it by increasing or decreasing the amount of insulin you take with your meals. It could also lead to unexpected highs and hypos overnight or if you skip a meal.Can anyone explain about testing basal rate and why it is necessary?
