I saw the GP again yesterday because he has been closely monitoring me during the last few days because of my increased heart rate (SVT). Apart from a brief period of feeling ok on Sunday afternoon I have been feeling really ill since Thursday. When I spoke to the GP yesterday he said that the muzzy head, dizziness, fatigue etc - not feeling safe to leave the house on my own apart from medical appointments - because of the sensations - are because of the increased dose of Verapamil which I've been given to keep my heart rate under control. Yesterday I had palpitations several times and could only cook a little of dinner because of shortness of breath and tight chest. The GP has said to reduce to slightly reduce the Verapamil from Wednesday morning and hopefully that will sort out the side effects. I asked about changing to beta blockers but he said no because of Type 1 diabetes. But if the side effects don't improve or if my heart rate goes above 100 I'm to be referred to a cardiologist - although apart from surgery (which I was offered three years ago but don't want because I literally can't cope with surgeries under local anaesthetic) the options are limited. On the plus side my blood pressure is excellent (110/70) but I'm completely fed up with feeling so rough. My only trips out this week will be by taxi to the podiatrist and by taxi to a glaucoma appointment. Apologies for the post being so long.
