Hello
I was diagnosed with diabetes type 1 last week and it was a huge shock. I went into A&E to ask about an abscess under my arm and I was told it was caused by diabetes. They removed it by surgery but had to get my glucose levels down first which took ages. Now I'm at home recovering from the surgery and trying to manage life with diabetes. It's hard!! My body has swollen up and I've put on loads of weight around my back and my legs in particular - I think it's all fluid? My calves and ankles are swollen and it's hard even to stand up. I get shooting pains and general aching feeling all over. Is this normal?!
