Cheers Mike, any idea about Strawbs, supermarket websites say 6g per 100g but google says 8g xIt depends on how much sugar you cook it with. It's unpalatable without.
It probably depends on the water content! A strawberry that has grown quickly in wet conditions and absorbed more water will contain fewer carbs per 100g than a smaller, more concentrated one.Cheers Mike, any idea about Strawbs, supermarket websites say 6g per 100g but google says 8g x
I used to grow Sweet Cicely in the garden at our old house, ( related to angelica, slightly aniseedy) and if you added a handful to rhubarb when stewing it, it needed a lot less sugar to make it palatable. Trouble is, it seeded itself all over the place, so I didn't bring any with us when we moved. It depends on how much sugar you cook it with. It's unpalatable without.
Fresh picked it's quite sweet.........compared to gooseberries anywayIt depends on how much sugar you cook it with. It's unpalatable without.
Not really. Since I usually cook rhubarb in a crumble, with orange juice / water / orange peel and / or apple in bottom and topping of 2 parts porridge oats / 1 part butter and 1 part (or less) sugar (brown sugar tastes nicer than white). Was very popular with 5 visitors from Jordan last week, along with my mum and me, but not dad, who hasn't date rhubarb for decades, which means mum doesn't have it often.Anyone have any idea on the carbs in rhubarb? x
My granddad used to grow it when he was in his old house I love the stuff 🙂 xI grow my own & like it loads. If you go on the web it tells you how good it is for diabetics. Not with sugar ! I cook mine with sweetner & its normally gone before it gets to be a crumble. 🙂
I can have rhubarb on Atkins, but I never think to! I'm trying to grow my own so if I get any by the end of summer I'll give it a whirl. 🙂
