do people catch the sun quicker with diabetes ... I only have to look at it and I get burnt !

Shouldn't make a difference as far as I know Lisa! 🙂 I always wear factor 50 in the Sun these days after getting a (minor) skin cancer a few years ago.

Are you on any medication that can cause you to react to sunshine?
I take steroids which cause the skin to thin thus burn easily so for obvious reasons I stay well covered.

Vitiligo is more common in people with type 1 diabetes than in the general population. I have a patch on my neck, and I can't remember if it was there before my diagnosis. As it lacks pigment and never tans, I have to keep it covered with clothing and / or sunscreen. It looks a bit odd if I let the contrast between tan and white become obvious.

I'm naturally blonde with fair skin so I burn very easily anyway, but I use factor 30 or 50 cos of my tattoos.

I used to like the hot sun, made me sweat & feel good, now today, I had a really good wake up reading 5.3, had porridge, probably a little too much, then had a very small bowl of cheese & ham a couple of hours later, went out for an hour or so, sat in the sun for about 30 mins, came home, & then had a hypo.
I am thinking it could have been the hot sun draining my energy & then having a 3.9 reading.

So in the space of less than two hours of being outside & just sitting or strolling around, I dropped from 10.9 to 3.9
Is it possible the hotter weather can do this ?

PS, I was not thirsty either, I don't get thirsty, just loose energy quite quickly.
I am on two x 500mg metformin a day.

Not sure about D meds, but some meds can cause sensitivity in the sun, I was on antibiotics a few weeks ago that had a warning that about going out in the sun.

I turn lobster pink at the least exposure, have always had to use the most protective sunscreen I could find.
I do tan a little, but only after very careful exposure.
