Since my hypo on Wednesday evening, which I didn't feel coming, it keeps happening. Thought I was starting with one in Tesco this morning so had a glucose tab - was 6.4 just before I went and it is only 5 mins away. Was then 5.3 in the car park an hour later before I came home.
Just had another, felt absolutely fine, did a test as was planning to eat soon and libre showed 2.7and finger 2.9 😱. Had a glucose tab and a biscuit and libre now showing 2.9 rising. This is 20 mins after first test.
I can only assume it is the weather? However, I am concerned as
A. I'm not feeling them coming and they are quick drops according to libre graph. I have always felt them at about 4.2 and headed them off with 1 glucose tab.
B. Should I be changing ratios, despite the fact both have happened at least 5 hours after I last ate? I did a basal test about 3 weeks ago which was fine - levels pretty stable over the 24 hours between 4.5 and 6.0.
Is it likely to just be the hot weather?

I'm finding the weather a nuisance, insulin wise, at the moment. I suspect I need to reduce basal, but because I'm on Lantus, by the time it's settled the weather will have broken. I'm sort of winging it by reducing bolus. Today, I reduced at lunchtime, but that spiked me up to 13, but then I'd fallen to 3.1 five hours later, because I'd done some DIY in the meantime. I think just firefighting is the only way to cope at the moment.

Thanks Robin. I'm glad (In a nice way 🙂) it's not just me. Been doing OK so far on MDI but this will be my first summer, and this is my first experience of hot weather and insulin, so was unsure.

This heat is knocking my levels down, it's hard to keep them up, plenty of treats a few at a time even then lucky to get above 6.0

It's partly because of unsettled weather due to living on an island at the eastern side of an ocean that I like my easy to change regime of Humalin I twice in 24 hours. So, I can reduce dose, instead of having to eat hypo remedies. Much prefer replacing boring carbs with ice cream, for example.

Can I join you all please . My levels are all over the shop too. I have no experience with not noticing hypo's, other than reading on here that it may help to run a bit higher for a while, rather difficult though when you're in hypo central.

For yours and everyone else's safety you need to stop driving until you sort the problem. I would suspect the weather is causing the hypos, perhaps also consider reducing your basal or perhaps having some extra snacks whilst the weather is as warm as this.

Yep I had three hypo's today. I'm absolutely loving the hot weather, but not the nuisance it's playing with my BGs! Last summer I found that I went higher in the heat, but it's the opposite so far this year. Diabetes fairy does love to keep us on our toes doesn't she!
I have the same issue with lantus, it takes so long for the changes to take effect 🙄 I'm thinking of asking my DSN if I can change to levimer maybe, with the ability to change doses more rapidly...

One of my warning signs is a hot flush, cannot notice them if hot already. And they get me quick in the heat. Its not like being away though I know thats warmer so I can adjust in advance but this is just random!

Lots of liquids keep heachaches away to thats another sign for me.

One today and one yesterday, yesterdays jumped out on me so you are not alone. I beat it today so not as bad. Good luck!

Count me in too! Checked blood before taking kids to the park, was 7.6 and after a while of being in boiling hot sun went down to 3.4, always got my testing kit, jelly babies and mobile on me just incase. Stay safe everyone x

It gets even more complicated when feeling hot can be due to hot weather OR being hypo OR menopause!

Looks like a thread should be created titled 'who was lucky enough to avoid a hypo today' looks like there wouldn't be many replies lol x

I also have had two hypos today! I need to reduce my Levemir tonight and tomorrow morning.

I think the only thing we can do is play it by ear and test a lot more!

I'm tempted to say welcome to my world, but as my world (hypo-wise) isn't much fun, I'll say instead that I hope the weather cools down a bit and you are all able to stop the hypos soon

I am in the unusual position of having fewer hypos in the hot weather, so have only had about 2 in the last 5 days (normally would be more like 5 in the last 2 days) and they were in the 3s so barely hypos at all by my standards! It is weird how much weather effects bgls. This is my first summer on Tresiba though and I've been surprised how much more stable my blood sugar has been this week than it usually is at this time of year - with Lantus I'd have been doubling all my doses for hot weather and I haven't had to do that at all.

You double your doses in the summer? That's so interesting. Just shows how no two people with diabetes are the same! I think I may end up halving my basal.

I hope the weather cools down as I myself have had a few hypos during the day especially when I move about and when am sweating like a mad dog it's hard to tell if it's cause of a hypo or the weather
