Relationship to Diabetes
Type 2
After 8 months I have finally got my diagnosis. Type 2 with reactive hypoglycaemia. My type 2 is totally under control but it's the hypoglycaemia that I have been struggling with. My work have been trying to sack me after 32 years good service and now I am having a fight to get my breaks as I need to eat every 2/2.5 hours or I go into a hypo. It's good now I know what I'm dealing with and have had a complete lifestyle change with my diet. I weigh my carbs and look at everything I eat. The one thing I'm having trouble with is milk. Is it bad for diabetes? Also I'm off on holiday in July and wondered how the heat will effect my levels?

Hi 🙂 what do you mean by bad for diabetics? I wouldn't suggest drinking it a lot but in drinks or even a glass wouldn't do too much harm, what kind of milk do you use? also regarding the heat cant give a straight answer on that one as some experience higher levels, some experience lower levels, as with all things diabetes there's unfortunately no one size fits all x

Glad you know what you are dealing with. I have milk all the time, in tea and coffee, on cereal or porridge and occasionally I drink milk on its own too. Ive always used semi skimmed.

Thanks for your reply. It's weird when I have milk I always feel so tired. Like you say we are all so different. I go weird in the low 4's and terrible in the 3's.

Thanks It's been a struggle to get sorted but at least I know what's happening to me. My work have been very ignorant about it all and keep asking me why I'm not given insulin????? I have tried to tell them that I make too much
