Well does the 'dog' thing work on cats too? Immobise Fido/Tiddles - either cos one of you is strong enough anyway or with a towel is easier LOL - prise teeth apart, shove tablet in. Then hold its muzzle firmly but not roughly closed and stroke its throat - they HAVE to swallow!

yeah the female cat we had up until 2015 was fine the whole time she was 19 when we had to have her put to sleep but she got urine infections when she was older x
They all break your heart eventually, but I wouldn't be without an animal 🙂

That is a good age for a cat. Excellent. 🙂 Don't know how old Mum's cat is but it is a rescue cat and might be around the same age. People think she's a kitten though.

I've just got a hamster. Hope she never needs tablets. 😱

Yes the dog thing works with cats too we have to use that tactic with my OH's cat haha x

They sure do but I'm the same would never be without one as lived with cats and dogs since being born haha x

Well Wee Man (Felix) is 14 now and started playing like a kitten with bits of ribbon etc, he didn't even do that when he WAS a kitten haha, as for hamsters I've had 4 over the years, 2 Syrian and 2 Russian Dwarfs, 1 of the syrians ended up with an eye infection so had to have drops done and she wasn't too bad with it actually 🙂 x

Hamsters aren't very long-lived though, are they, generally speaking - so they don't sort of become family members like cats and dogs do.

Sorry to hear your cat isn't well, I hope the meds clear up his uti quickly.
Reading about trying to give a cat a pill reminded me of this. Enjoy.

I've read that before - it's brilliant! Our older cat will be 19 in May, has rather arthritic back legs now but is still a terror at taking pills, ie she just won't! She will froth at the mouth, spit it out, draw blood and go wild-eyed with fury. At the vets a few months back the vet took about 5 attempts to get a worming pill down her throat. But she's still my baby 🙂

I hope your cat's on the road to recovery, Kaylz xx

They're just little devils aren't they haha but we would never be without them whatever they might get up to 🙂 seems much happier today so fingers crossed, thanks @Pine Marten 🙂 xx

I'd like to introduce my little angel Wee Man (meant to be Felix but gave him the nickname when he was little and rarely answers to his proper name) he says thank you for all your kind wishes haha 🙂 x

Awww! such long whiskers :D

Cat's menu for today (he gets 4 meals a day)
B - his regular bowl of cat food
D - some more cat food and a bit of steak from my steak bake
Snack - Lidl cat stick treat (he absolutely loves them)
T - fresh poached fish
S - he will get some more regular cat food haha 🙂 x

Update - he finished his tablets and medicine a few days ago and all seemed fine, until today around lunchtime where yes it has come back again, 3 injections, a different kind of tablet and the same oral syringe medicine :( x

Oh, poor baby! I do hope he gets better soon - the stress of having an ill pet certainly does awful things to your nerves :(. Big {{{hugs}}} to you Kaylz and to the Wee Man xx

The first 2 times he was pacing up and down the lobby, scraping at the living room carpet and meowing so today when he started that again I knew exactly what was coming, hopefully this round will do the trick or they want a urine sample to pin exactly what tablets to give him, which wouldn't be too difficult actually as if there's a carrier bag left around he's been known to pee on it, once the shop ran out of cat litter so had to put newspaper in the tray until they got a delivery next day lol thanks for the good wishes and hugs 🙂 xx
