Hi Dave welcome , it can take a while to get over the shock, but with the right help, support and effort diabetes is perfectly manageable!
How did you come to be diagnosed.
Have you been given a meter so you can test you BG (blood glucose) levels yourself.
I don't know what advise if any, you have been given about eating .
you might be supprised about what is a healthy diet for us T2s, for the time being cutting down/out on the starchy carbs such as , potatoes, bread, pasta and rice avoid fruit juice, tropical fruit has loads of sugar as do grapes .
