@Mark Parrott - Hello.🙂. Yes, the LCHF Diet is very good, and I see no reason why you shouldn't lower your HBA1C - I don't follow it because I want/need to keep my Cholesterol at 3.4. It's quite a shock when you get the diagnoses of Diabetes (unless you expected it as in my case) just take each and every day as it comes, and try not to overload your mind at taking in to much information at once. You do have a meter? And are testing? William 2003
It sounds like you may be being misled by the 'high fat=higher cholesterol' myth William. In fact, carbs can be a bigger contributor to cholesterol and triglyceride levels than fat, and a lower carb diet can improve levels of 'good' HDL cholesterol:

@Northerner - Hi, No not at all, I understand about what foods to eat and what not to eat with the LCHF Diet. I don't follow it because of personal choice. I think it is a brilliant diet and know of other type 2's who have lost a lot of weight and reduced their HBA1C a great deal. Thank You 🙂

@Mark Parrott - That'll be an interesting experiment! = Good Luck. Only asked if you were testing because newly diagnosed don't get given meters nowadays.
I had to buy my own. If I went on meds, they would've given me one, but I'm on diet & exercise only.

I think that depends on the doctors. I was initially put on metformin then the second appointment I was given an Accu Check Active the second I asked. My practice nurse said "of course! Checking your levels is a good way of keeping track and being able to bring them down!" then a month or so later I was put on gliclazide (and more recently canagliflozin) so they can't take my meter away as my drugs can cause hypos!

Yes I have a meter. In fact today I am experimenting and testing every hour thoughout the day to see what happens. Normally I test before meals & 2 hours after. My cholesterol is also high (7.2) but apparently LCHF can also lower it. Will find out on 12th April when I get my results.

I'll predict a 45 for you Mark...you'll have to take bets! 😛

I'll be very happy with 45.:D I'm hoping to judge just under the 50. My bloods have been a bit higher today then I had hoped.
