Butchers own made chili burger on a sandwich thin a smear of ketchup and sliced gherkin with sweet potato fries.

Oooooohhhhh! I want one!:D

You had me salivating until the mention of the gherkin! 😱 I will never forget running the Stockholm Marathon in 2003 and taking what I thought to be a piece of cucumber from someone to 'refresh' me - turned out to be pickled gherkin! 😱 Eeeew!!! Cough! Spit! Yeeurgh! 😱

I like them in a burger. Couldn't eat one on its own.

Love a pickled gherkin. Problem is an open jar would soon be an empty jar.

Me too. Adore a pickled gherkin. And pickled onions. And pickles in general. In fact, anything vinegary. Except chips. Can't stand vinegar on chips...

Another pickle and vinegar lover here.... including on chips. :D

Don't like the 'Big' pickled things that eg McDs put on burgers - that they call 'Dill' pickle (Que? - Dill is a green feathery herb, not a looming gherkin or cucumber!) always pick it off and give it Pete.

However - small Gherkins - yum yum, esp 'sweet pickled' - dribble. (Just thought, odd - gherkins are little and so are Ghurkas, and their wives and offspring LOL) Ditto onions though I'd rather have pickled shallots really. And vinegar on chips and cooked red cabbage with apple and red onion and wine vinegar and spices, more saliva .......

Love a good pickled onion too.

When I was a pre-schooler I used to go shopping with my mum on Friday morning. She always went to a Polish shop on the market - Mr Plaschinki's and he always gave me a gurkin to eat as I walked round with my mum.

I still love gurkins but hate vinegar on my chips!

Pickled beetroot, pickled onions, pickled eggs, 🙂

A dill pickle is a gherkin that has been pickled in a pickling brine that also contains dill.

Either way, they're still ruddy awful and should be removed immediately from any burger.

When I was a student we used to go into a local Sheffield pub and always noticed the big jar of pickled eggs behind the bar. One night we challenged each other to have on, eating it 'in one' 😱 They were served to us in pretty little flowery bun cases! :D Now, I hate hard boiled eggs to start with, but pcikled? UGH!!! I nearly choked! Ewwwww!!!

I used to pickle my own onions -- much tastier than shop-bought, and don't need preservative (yuk) or refrigeration either! 🙂 My mum once gave me a jar of home-made piccalilli.

The pickle I miss is the (Polish-style?) mixed vegetable one I used to love; haven't seen it in years. :(

There's a huge polish population where I live and the hard of pickled veg are widely available in our area. And they are very nice.🙂

Can't stand gherkins, loathe the things but I adore pickled onions, especially the cocktail ones. I also like the pickled ginger you get in Japanese restaurants. The only other kind of pickle I like is the veggie one my gran used to make to go with granddad's ploughman's, that was a sort of Branston thing, but miles better.

Is there no one else out there who is with me with the pickled egg thing?

Pickled eggs is just about the only pickled thing I can eat. I've only had one in a pub though & God knows how long they had been sitting there.😱

Never had a pickled egg. Its one of those things that I've always thought 'I really ought to try' due to my love of pickles, but never quite got round to having one...

This was what made us wonder in that pub in Sheffield - we saw the big jar emptying of eggs, but we never saw anyone eat one! 😱 :D
