In general not if everything else in fine. However in one of the articles I read they recommended a Doppler test in addition to checking pulses as the latter can be quite subjective with some medical staff reporting good pulses when in fact the Doppler show a noticeable fall off in circulation. Personally I would think a Doppler should be carried out every two or three years when there is no problem and more frequently if there is. I was told my pulses were fine but had a Doppler carried out by my podiatrist which showed a drop off of over 20%. It is checked yearly now.

They've just bought a Doppler at my GP surgery, so I had that done this week when I had my MOT !

Hello

I have seen my GP regarding Osteoporosis and I do have it. -3.0 in my lumbar spine and -2.2 in my hips. Gp has put me and Calceo tablets with Vitimin D twice a day and on a once a week tablet called Alendronic ( it's known as the standing up pill). I strted the calcium tablets today and will start the Aldentronic next week, Wednesday is the best day for me. Another thing is my hands and wrists, especially the left ones are, painful, stiff, weak and get quite warmsometimes, they can swell up turn a pinky red colour. This morning for the first time ever I couldn't unsrew the plastic top off the apple/pear/grape juice carton for my D, we both tried and tried but couldn't do it, it hurt too much. So my D used her teeth to unscrew the plastic top and she did it. Afterwards I noticed a tiny bruise on the tip of my little finger,I also have pain and restricted movement in my left foot and ankle. I told my GP yesterday, so I am having a blood test next Wednesday. I couldn't even pick up a pineapple with one hand, so I had to scoop it up with both hands and put it in the trolley!! The wrists are the worse, but at least I can type with 2 fingers lol. I have been googling the symptoms out of curiosity, but obviously I will wait for the test results.

Thats about it really, but finding day to day things a bit difficult. Forgot to add that my bones have been clicking/cracking alot, the wrists, hands and elbows and also the shoulders sometimes, I think I need a MOT( or some new parts 😉

Best wishes Sheena

Sheena, I hope that the new medicine helps with the osteoporosis, and that the blood tests can help get to the bottom of your problems - hopefully with a good and straightforward treatment available.

Good luck with your appointment 🙂

Sheena I am so sorry to hear that you are having even more problems, it just isn't fair. Take care and big hugs {{{{{Sheena}}}}}

Thank you Northerner and thank you Amanda

Hopefully when the test results come back I will get some answers, but then again they may come back negative.

I was going to paint just one of the five doors upstairs today, but I'm don't feel like doing it, because I know my hand and wrists will pay for it afterwards, but I might try tomorrow🙂

I hope you both have a good weekend, isn't the weather lovely, spring has sprung :D

Best wishes Sheena

Thank you Sheena 🙂 It's a beautiful day! Hope you are feeling more up to the painting tomorrow 🙂

Like you need this on top of everything else Sheena. What are the blood tests for - inflammation?

Hope the alendronic acid helps your bones beef up a bit anyway.

Have you had a dental check? Oral health v important for all these ruddy osteo drugs.

(My sis is on the heavy duty sort - denosumab - XGEVA - but her skeletal and other probs are all caused by the Big C)

Thanks TW I was reading about dental problems, as I have receeding gums due to some bone loss,so that could be associated with the Osteopororsis, I went to Guys Hospital last year for treatment.

The tests are for ESR FBC RF UA UE, Inflamation, Full blood count, Rhuematoid Factor, Gout and (UE).

Best wishes Sheena
