Yup - same as Northie.

I know when mine gets any higher than say 15 and stays there for any length of time I go into hibernation mode - can't stay upright, HAVE to lie down flat because I am dizzy and nauseous and I instantly fall into a deep sleep. It is what the body is sposed to do and it's disturbing because it is actually a diabetic coma. However luckily for me I am on insulin so I have managed to inject some to correct it before I let myself pass out, then when it gets down to a suitable level, I wake up.

I should say, when this passing out business happened, I was, otherwise than diabetes, quite ill at the time, which explained the highs but didn't make it any easier to deal with them, even though I knew it was that which was causing it.

Thanks Trophy for your reply I have none of these signs which I find very strange will find out next week from Dr will post the outcome🙂

When I was diagnosed the finger-prick test showed "Hi" on the meter i.e. it was higher than the meter could measure (around 33mmol for most meters). I could barely walk, was drinking water by the litre and weary wasn't in it. Which was why I commented earlier in this thread that you must be feeling awful.

It seems your level of 26 can't have been an Hba1c unless it's in the new values in which case it would be approx 4.5 and really what you'd expect a non-diabetic to be, so hardly a reason for you to have a GAD65 test. I'll be very interested in your update. 🙂

It's very helpful to write down a list of questions to take to the Dr. It's good as a prompt, otherwise all too easy to forget half your questions. I'm exactly the same, I come out of the appointment remembering all the things I meant to ask but didn't.

You're not alone - I always think of stuff to ask afterwards! 🙂

So do I!

Glad it's more than likely a mistake Lanzlady. Good luck for your appointment next week.

Hiya Lanzlady,

Any news? How have you been doing?

A 🙂

Hi Alba, I have no results back my Gad test has gone to Oxford 3weeks ago
The only thing I found out was my last Hba1c was 125 in the new version (
not 25) which I think is around 13. something the waiting for this test is on my mind day and night I hope they don't leave it much longer🙂
I will post as soon as I know the results.

Thanks for your interest

Aw, was hoping you were further forward. I hope you don't have much longer to wait. 13% is a big improvement on what you thought before but still far too high. Has the doctor changed you medication or put you on insulin? They have to do something to help and support you when your hba1c is so high, unless you are seeing a big improvement on your BG meter test results now.

Sorry to hear you are having to wait so long... what a pain. Please try to relax and also curb your carbohydrate intake which might help. {{HUG}}
