Hi guys,

Sorry I've not been on here much recently. Things at work are very busy (as well as me trying to spend less time on the internet whilst at work) and every evening (Mon - Thurs) I do a class at the gym. Time just seems to be disappearing!

Despite all my exercise, I am waking to high levels (over 10) and getting a bit down about that (they weren't high before I started exercising!!) but now I think I seem to be suffering from a bit of DP as I rise during the night, and even if I wake to an ok level, within 2 hours I'm even higher. So much for exercise reducing my need for insulin!!

I hope you are all well and enjoyed your easter weekends! 🙂

Sorry to hear things are not going to well for you.

Could you go see your dsn or consultant to look at your routine and see if it needs changing? Are you on a pump (sorry I don't know)

Hope you get sorted asap. Nothing worse than it all going to pots especially when you do everything possible to keep as fit and well as possible xxx

No need to apologise Katie! I did wonder where you were though 😉 Are you eating something as soon as you get up? I find that this stops those morning rises. The exercise will be doing you a world of good and your sensitivity to insulin should improve in time so you need less insulin, so don't let it put you off exercising! And if/when you get a pump I'm sure things will be far more controllable, what with all those fancy basals that you get with them 🙂

Post when you can, we're always happy to hear from you, but make sure you don't neglect 'real life' as well 🙂

Thanks Di. At the moment I am sending weekly food diaries (which is time consuming in itself!!) to my DSN team. They are trying to get me a pump to help with the exercising as annoyingly, my body doesn't seem to stick to routine of reactions...does just seem to be pot luck every time!! Getting a pump is a waiting game at the best of times, I just like to make it more complicated by being treated in a different PCT area to where I live! 🙂

Thanks for your kind words. x

Thanks Alan. There's just never enough time for everything is there!!

I've never eaten as soon as I get up, I just can't stand food in the morning!! Always been the same. I don't eat breakfast during the week until I get to work (even then it may not be until 10 or 11am), and at the weekends I don't eat any at all. I'm finding most mornings I'm having to do an adjustment dose as soon as I wake up anyway!

I know I will be benefitting from the exercise, and to be honest, I am really, really enjoying all the classes I'm doing, so I don't want any reason to stop & I'm not letting anything get in the way of it. I'm just not losing any weight at the moment and wondered if it was the extra insulin that was doing it.... I know I could eat healthier, but surely just by going from no exercise to 5 or 6 high intensity classes a week should result in some weight loss?!? I'm in my 6th week now, so fingers crossed I'll start seeing some changes soon. But I am really enjoying it so won't stop - weight loss would just be a nice added bonus!

Thanks for your support 🙂

I'd recommend having a Belvita biscuit with your tea/coffee when you get up - it's only 8g carbs and it will stop your liver from flooding your blood with glucose - try it! I never used to be a breakfast person, and even now all I have each morning is a slice of Burgen toast, but a belvita biscuit is easy to eat - you can even dunk it! (although it might collapse into your drink :D)

I recommend a Digestive meself. 10g carb (well 9. summat i think) and bob's your uncle. They dunk very well !
