I've been asked by our Balance team to try and find some people with Type 2 who used to treat their diabetes with medication, but now only manage it with diet and exercise.

They're looking to do an article later in the year and are looking for some people to feature. If there's anyone interested in helping, let me know!

Or, you can email balance[at]diabetes.org.uk with some details of your experience, and tell them Joe sent you...

AndyHB and Wallycorker spring to mind... Sure there are others but my mind's a blank!

I didn't know AndyHB had - Wallycorker was the only one who sprang to my mind.

Libra Jenny's on a heck of a lot less meds now - as are various others - but not right off em.

Hi Is they anymore criteria?, cause so far i fit it, i was on byetta, victoza metformin but now im on diet and exercise only

Ah Steff!! I hadn't realised you were off everything now!

I came off all medication as well :D.

Hey Steff and Cazcot,, - that's great - hadn't realised! 😱

I've had a couple of PMs - thank you!

(Do feel free to PM me at any time about anything, if you want - this goes to anyone! I do have a habit of neglecting to check them, so it could be best to email. Northerner can pass on my address if needs be. But I'll do my best to check PMs more regularly!)

...

No T2s are "TREATING" their diabetes with Medication Joe - there are no treatments for it.😉

Would 'managing' be more appropriate? 😛

I would say that diet and exercise are management actions but the meds are treatment that further enable management.

I treat my diabetes with insulin. It's part of my management plan.

It's an interesting distinction and probably a personal choice thing. Much like calling ourselves diabetics or saying we have diabetes.🙂

Well I spose you'd say 'treating with the aid of' wouldn't you?

Cos my insulin sure as hell can't do it on its own, it just sits there in the fridge and does sweet FA.

However when I take it upon myself to get some insulin physically into my body, then it meets inside bits of me, and assists my innards to respond.

?

It's a personal thing, I'd say. We talk about "treatment" on our website. "Managed" might be a better term for some - although I'd agree with Robster, personally.

tbh, I don't care how it's defined as long it does what it should. :D

And TW, cut it out with your high fallootin' technical medical terms ! 🙄:D
