High spike, rapid decline?

I'm intrigued what is actually going on.

I had some noodles(60g) with some ham and veg for dinner. My 1 hour spike was 10.3, not good, but my 2 hour was 4.4, one of my best readings ever. I didn't test before the meal, but it is generally 5 to 6.

Does the rapid decline mean my insulin works well after a delay, or perhaps the amount of sugar conversion of the noodles was very rapid, but of little quantity.

Am I getting too involved in the science?😱
 
Sounds like a sluggish response from your pancreas, which overdid it as your blood sugar went up. This would have the effect of giving you a high level at 1 hour, but then rapidly dipping and going lower than your pre-meal (probably) because your pancreas put out a bit too much insulin.

Always worth trying to find answers to puzzles to help inform your future decisions 🙂

I'm with you there slipper! I don't think I'm obsessive, but I do like an explanation as to what might be going on, I never knew so much about the human body until I was diagnosed.
 
Not sure whether it's an 'all T2' or only 'some T2' thing, but I have certainly read about impaired or absent 'phase 1' insulin response in T2's. Its the initial big splurge that tames the non-D spike - and without it your levels are likely to shoot up by 1hr ish. At about 1.5-2hrs the phase 2 kicks in so that by 2h many T2's BGs have begun to drop - in your case I wonder if there was a little reactive push to the high level that caused you to drop so quickly. Either that or the D gremlins just wanted to mess with your head!
 
It all suggests that you were only above the recommended levels (below 8mmol/l 2 hrs after meals) for a very short time, so I wouldn't worry nor question too deeply. I'd be very content with the 2 hour reading and wouldn't have bothered with the 1 hr reading (unless about to drive).

Looking back, I do seem to get a big spike with the 1 hour, if I have done some carbs, only to be below 8 by 2 hours.

Some people say D-Fairy, but frankly Gremlins seem more like the chaotic mischief I see in my own results some times 🙄
