My father in law was celebrating his birthday last night.

Now while i am pretty good about what i eat a friend of mine(who is type 1) made the most delicious cheesecake.
I ignored it for most of the night but succumbed and had a slice.
Before this i had a couple of salad sandwiches.
I usually have tea and some toast around the same time every night.

Now when i eat normally,my blood sugars before breakfast are usually in the high 5's or low 6's.

This morning it was.....4.9
What is that all about.
Should i have a slice of cheesecake every night(only joking).
But i was prepared for a much higher reading:confused:

wow thats a good result for cheesecake well done

how did the fish and chips go the other night Jon.

Fish and Chips? Cheesecake??? Are we onto a new 'cure'? 😉

As your levels are normally pretty good Jon, and this was a bit of a one-off (or unusual, anyway) then maybe your body managed to deal with it as you slept. 🙂

I am sooooooooooo jealous, i would do anything for a slice of cheese cake, but if i had some my numbers would rocket.

Glad you enjoyed it though.

The more i talked about it the less i wanted it😱😱

I don't think so🙂

Fish and chips will be on the back burner for a while.

Jon, it seems you're coming up with new 'treatments' all the time! Now we can just contemplate forbidden food for long enough to savour it, and gradually our need for it will subside - without having any effect on blood sugar levels! :D

I've only had 'proper' fish and chips once since diagnosis in May 2008 :(

My sisters a chef and cooks the most delicious foods but she can't be bothered eating them.
She says it's like taking her work home.

She says the aroma satisfies her and prefers scrambled eggs🙂

The thought of fish and chips is much better than the reality!

You are closer to the answer than you realise, Northey.

I'm sure there was a report recently which extolled the virtues of thinking about forbidden food as a way to reduce craving it. According to the report, thinking about something activated the same areas of the brain as when actually having it, so the theory is that you think you had it even though you didn't.

Er, I think that's what I mean! 🙄

Andy 🙂

Not 'Diddy' David Hamilton? I always wondered what happened to him...😉

Hi there,

It's all about craving stuff we can't really have. When I went home last year, I thought YES, I'm going to have fish and chips, what a disappointment, I felt yuk afterwards. (this is before diabetes diagnosis). There is no such thing as fish and chip shops in Norway but way too many MacDonalds!!

Give me a good curry any day. I just love cooking with spices and marinading dishes.

Don't you find that the smell of coffee, freshly baked bread is better than the actual sitting down and eating/drinking? Then again, I love the smell of tar!!
🙂

Fresh baked bread, bacon and ground coffee have to be my favourite food smells.

Jon, to get back to the cheescake issue. If it was home made, apart from the base, if it was layered up with Philly cheese and blueberries it could be quite low carb? Just a thought and I'm drooling!!

Donna x🙂

He still works at Craven Cottage on match days as the stadium announcer (well he did the last time I went along a few months ago). 🙂

and now back to the cheesecake ........

mnom, mnom, mnom!
